Round 14 Vs Raiders

He's definitely trying hard to be the worst over Blocker.

Like Gus, I think Blocker is performing on air exactly as his employer requires. Controversy Corner is a giveaway. Anasta, on the other hand, is an utter embarrassment.

I was sober and the camera was obscured from every angle due to the bodies. Yeah the one on us was blatant.

You couldn't tell on the one leading up to the field goal. Likewise the one before that on Merrin. By the last 10 minutes, the game had degenerated into high farce and just about anything went.

The refs absolutely lost control. Lots of penalties but no authority.

When the players don't know what will be penalised and what won't it is impossible to play the game in accordance with the ref's wishes. This is the hallmark of Perenara and for the life of me I cannot understand how he's in first grade.

Slammed with all the agreement maybe. Definitely down a bit and your ratings reflect that.

Told you.

It’s been a lottery all season but the real positive is that as a team we move on and get on with it.

Canberra are the opposite. They’ll play for penalties, cry foul and their crowd boos relentlessly like a bunch of mongs.

Bad refereeing has always been around, dealing with that is what some teams do better.

Would have won with anyone else in the Halves? Maloney in particular?

Just because we won doesn't mean they played particularly well. It's a quality champion teams seem to have so it's good to see us get the win while playing at maybe 75% of our best.

Our crowd is probably the worst for BOOIng these days.

One moment that I think we didn't take proper advantage of was when we were up 10-8 very early in the second half (I think 5 minutes in), and Gubb hit Cleary in the legs in the air, and we got a penalty in front of the posts.

I really thought we should have taken the 2 there, and gone up 12-8. I appreciate that it is not a converted try lead, but it is always hard to score a try from in front, particularly early in a half when the defence isn't tired, and all the more so in wet weather. Taking a guaranteed 4 point lead and getting possession again at our own end would have been better.

DWZ also seemed far too anxious to push the pass last night. Maloney put him in space on the 3rd tackle, and he might have been able to get the Raiders 20 metre line before being tackled, but he threw a crazy overhead pass to try to get to Phillips and it went into touch.

DWZ also threw the long pass a mile out in front of Peach that lead to the strip and Rapana try.

Strange game allround. Great to get the two points in the end. Invaluable win.

The loss of Kikau for the next six weeks is a huge loss. Hopefully the return of Waqa Blake will help. I know it won't happen but for mine I would drop Whare and have Peachy - Blake as our centres. Peachy will be wasted coming off the bench and needs to play 80 minutes. With the loss of Kikau we need three big boppers of the bench given we are currently using the two hooker rotation. A bench of Egan, Peachy and two big forwards will be no where near as effective. Not saying Whare has done much wrong but the balance of the side would be so much better and give us a greater chance of winning imo.

That looked like a bombed try to me.

Griffin has some decision making ahead with Peachey, Whare and the bench. You need three middle forwards for Merrin, RCG and JFH. All of them have been coming off at around 20-30 mins. So either you drop Whare for Blake and bring in a third bench forward to replace Kikau, or you use Peachey in the role Egan has been playing. Not sure what sort of dummy half he is though, maybe Katoa can do more minutes. Merrin used to do 80 minutes a couple of years ago but its a big ask. Maybe he could last until RCG comes back on at around 55 minutes.

I get the feeling when Blake comes back he will be shifted to the wing for Crichton. Not my preference but I doubt Griffin drops Whare and I would at this stage leave Peach where he is.

Whare should goto the wing if anyone does.

Honestly not fussed if Crichton or Whare played wing. Crichton is pretty hit and miss too. Not a bad player. But we really are just developing him for Bulldogs anyway.

That is why I tossed up Blake as FB a few weeks ago. Much better if they want Peachey/Whare centres.

Again last night Peachey roamed and played all over the place. For me that is problem defensively. I'd rather him take Kikau's spot now and give him 50 or so as a roaming forward.

No doubt someone else will go down before then and will solve how to fit them all in

Perhaps May on the bench in place of Egan. Surely May can do a similar job to what Egan is currently providing and our three bench forwards Tamou, Hethrington & Ellis/Lui Toso.

I think Lui Toso is worth a game or two. Not someone who is capable of playing big minutes but from what I have seen he would give great go forward for the 20 so minutes playing time he would receive.
