You'd have to think that Hodges will be rested. Thaiday didnt seem to play many minutes on Wednesday so I'd like to see him start.

With Slater and Cronk out, this is a game we should win.

How long has it been since we have beaten the Storm? It feels like since 2006.

I agree we won't get a better chance, their halves are pretty weak without Cronk.

I think Thaiday was saving himself for this game on Wednesday night.

A good performance by Hunt could win him a game in SOO3.

Good to see Dodds back. If he can stay on the park I am sure he will be one of our best props.

I expect Bennett will be in Hunt and Milford's ear, telling them they're not too far off a crack at Origin if they continue their stellar form.

Funny how Milford hasn't factored into too much Origin talk. He wouldn't be out of play at fullback.

A loss by the Cows on Saturday night to Canberra (which is highly likely in Canberra) will see us playing for the top spot on the ladder - outright on points.

This game may just make or break our chances at the top 4. I can't see us being knocked out in the remaining rounds if we beat Melbourne in Melbourne to go outright leaders if the Cows lose.

Surely one of the greatest defensive efforts by any club, ever. Over 130 extra tackles by the Broncs, defending against 12 line dropouts.

Surely one of the greatest exhibitions of kicking for repeats sets ever as well I guess.

Reality check, though. Agree with Renouf, if Cronk and Slater were in that team we probably would have been carved up by 20.

The Broncos and North Queensland should surely be the favourites for the Premiership. Any team that defends like that AND scores a try like Reed's is looking good.

3. McCullough
2. Reed
1. Gillett

Now for the concerns. Our forward making metres. We're still not bending the line enough. Hunt's long kicking game still isn't quite up to scratch. Both these factors contributed to Melbourne's huge territory advantage. Also, how we miss Lockyer's dropouts which often went 60 metres. Hunt's flat out making 40.

Obviously a huge effort in defence today, but what I was happy with was Boyd's contribution from fullback in attack. He actually looks dangerous with ball in hand and if we are to go deep into this competition he will be the key.

With defence like that once Hunt gets his kicking game sorted (and I think he's improving slightly each week) we could be a chance for a deep run into the semis.

No need to keep a lid on it Daz. Brisbane were without their captain, vice captain and lost a player part-way through.

Throw in the bounce of the ball and some good ol' fashioned home town reffing by Sutton and you've got yourself one of the best performances from a Broncos side since the days of Lockyer.

Magnificent defensive performance from Brisbane. Melbourne produced their best performance of the season and Brisbane found enough to win.

That was some effort.

Agree re Boyd, with the limited ball we had he still looked sharp in the backline plays. His timing was great and he consistently took the right option. Corey Oates is really starting to impress too, we were completely out of gas and he was still able to bend the line coming out of our own territory.

Gotta admit, I thought Melbourne were in under the posts on their final play.

The worrying thing is that Oates was probably our best forward despite only playing half a game, on the wing.

Maranta had a very good game (can't believe im posting that)
Remember we were missing hodgo and parker there goes plenty of attack.
Oates was bluddy awesome what a game from him.

3 Reed
2 Thaiday
1 McCullough

A great defensive performance Bennett has employed a strategy in defence that conserves energy and limits penalties. It leaks metres but its working.
Reeds try was just great it was like the good old days had returned.
