Maybe he won't be so bad at hooker. He'll have guys around him to do his tackling for him and won't need to do any kicking.

Of course, it would be better if he's only there to cover an injury.

Edited just for you Charlie.

I am unsure how many games you get to up here each year, but I go to about half the games each year as I love live football.

But it is a bit rich hearing a Cowboys supporter call other fans drunk, loud and obnoxious.

And anyway, its a football match, when is being LOUD a bad thing??????????

Maybe he is the kind that would rather sit at home to watch his team play.

Well first of all I have season tickets in the grandstands, so I go to every home game for the Cowboys. What I see every year, particularly with teams like Cronulla and Manly (NZ have it in them as well) is a group of supporters who get pissed and try to stir up the locals after the match, particularly if they've had a win. You can see it straight away because what typically happens is they buy out a section of the grandstand (as with Manly a few weeks ago, although I personally didn't see any trouble from them).

I don't know why, but it only seems to be these few clubs. You'd think the Broncos fans would get into it, considering their huge support up here, but nope. The only time I've ever seen a fist fight at Dairy Farmers was between a Sharks supporter and a Cowboys supporter a few years ago.

Fair enough to support your team and all that, but deliberately getting pissed and trying to start sh*t at an away venue is a good way to get your team a reputation. I don't mind a bit of good-natured ribbing, but to come to blows?

I think they are doing their best to make the fans feel as terrible as possible after each game.

They did everything they could to lose that game in the second half.

Neil Henry, how long is his contract?? I feel bad for you cowboys fans, your team has no right to play the way it has this season.

Neil is contracted for 3 more years.

The club needs a cleanout at every level, not just the coach.

I've got no f**king words for that game boys... f**k i've had a gutful of this team, dead set. Guess which three names cost us ANOTHER game? John Williams, Ashley Graham & Neil Henry. Graham on the wing in the 2nd half was among the worst NRL winger performances I've ever borne witness to.

What the f**k was the go with Henry's bench?! Rovelli AND Taumata?! We have 4 bloody run on forwards who can't play 80, and you pick TWO deadsh*t backs on the bench?! FMD, I don't even know what to say. Even when we were winning there was not a whole lot of effort from the Cowboys, we just looked dispassionate across the pitch.

Fair enough we won't make the finals, but at least get out there and give it a f**king crack for christ's sake, we'll be lucky to have 10,000 there in 3 weeks time.

That 2nd half performance defied belief. The passionate fans of this club are getting deadset short changed. Good on ya Henry - pick two halves on the bench and then inject Rovelli into the game when all is on the line - he is such a game breaker and all...

John Williams needs to be sent packing straight away for his performance and Ash Graham, well what more can we say - his defence is pathetic. What is with our backline going backwards everytime the opposition spins the ball wide? No commitment......

As a Sharks supporter who gets to as many home and away games as possible each year (including Townsville), I have yet to come across anything of the sort that you mentioned with Cronulla fans trying to stir up trouble. Opposition teams when having a win at Townsville might sing their team song and celebrate a bit, but as to deliberately stirring up trouble, while there might be an isolated incident here and there, are generally pretty good.
Is it possible the Cowboys supporters are prone to overreacting when the home team loses? After all, it takes two to tango!!!
Last year at Townsille when I made the trek up there, there was an advertising blitz on the big screen, headlined "1 PUNCH CAN KILL", obviously trying to educate Townsville people on the dangers of drinking and violence.
Dairy Farmers is the ONLY ground I have ever seen this advertising campaign being run.

What a load of absolute hogwash.

I was at the game two years ago when the fight happened. Maybe it was three years ago. It was between two ex work mates who clashed after the game, had nothing to do with football at all.

Cowboys supporters are the biggest stir ups I have seen, instead of supporting their team they throw beers, direct abuse, fingers etc.

We had teenagers trying to come and sit right next us giving us sh*te all game until they slinked away with their tails between their legs.

Last night we had the two ugliest woman I have ever seen calling us bastards after we won the game hahahahaha.

What a sweet victory that was. Cowboys supporters, the only people dumb enough to throw away a beer that costs $5 just cause they have the sh*ts.

Say what you like mate, I've got my opinions you've got yours.

Interesting though that this is the only game thread i've seen in the Cowboys section all year where an opposition fan deliberately sought it out, came in and starting talking sh*t.

i spent 6 years in Sydney during the late 90's early 2k's, every team has f**kwit fans, we are not immune from that up here as well either.

But on the whole, I think you will find most Cowboys fans are pretty decent human beings/footy fans as you will sharks fans.
The teams I found very hard to deal with as an opposition fan whilst living in Sydney was Parra, the Knights and earlier in the bit, doggies (mad dog got threatened to get knifed in the car park in season 04). Though in 04 at the semi in Sydney, Canterbury had a welcoming party for all us travelling fans and at the game all the doggies fans were excellent towards us even though we won. So it seemed they sorted their sh*t out.

When you combine a bit of piss and the emotions that go with following a football side, you tend to see the worst in human beings. I can honestly say you get treated no worse up here than what you do at most grounds down south. To say otherwise is pretty ignorant.

I always found Raiders, Dragons, Tigers,Sharks fans to be the better to deal with, even got into a shout with some dragons fans at Kograh in '03 on the hill. You can meet some champion people at the footy, and you can also meet some a$$clowns. The cultural 'stew pot' that is known as the footy eh???

Disgraceful. He is a perfect example of a positive supporter who supports his team, he doesn't try geeing up opposition supporters.
