This is a huge game. Souths came out and said they are not content with a top 8 finish, and want a home final, and on the back of 2 straight wins the knights look keen to muscle their way into playoff contention.

Should be a good one, and I'll admit it's a game that has me worried. If Matt King is back in the centres it will go a long way to shutting you guys down out wide. If he is still a week off you guys will try to go around us, and then it's just up to how well you hold the ball as you do so.

Looking forward to it.

How could they be content with a top 8 finish. They have no idea what it is.

Don't worry about them JW they're still frothing at their toothless mouths because we humiliated them in round 26 last year and hoisted a LOL@50uff$ banner for all the country to see. We gave sufficient reason for them to hate us, so just lap it up and enjoy it. Our boys won't be afraid of the perennial underachievers, the absolute joke of the league.

Obviously Souths should win this convincingly. If they don't, well.......... you know the saying.
I'm very interested to see how we go up front without Snowden and who gets to fill his spot. I'm praying it aint Cuthbo.

Both Taia and Cuthbo have been going fine up front the past two games.

Looks like Snowden is gone for 6-8 weeks in stead of the original diagnosis of 4 weeks. I really hope we can blood somebody with an eye to the future instead of shifting both Taia and Cuthbertson into the rotation.

Blood who though? Please dont say Sims, he is much too raw to play the next 8 weeks of NRL straight from NYC

Tui will be the man imo.

And I'm guessing Vaivai is the same? Gee I miss seeing young props coming through our system. Just doesn't happen these days- it has been a very slim 10 years.

It is a shame that Kyle O'donnell is not remotely in his brothers league, cos with the hopeful addition of Cordner, and a more developed Korbin Sims we would have an exciting young forward pack. McKinnon, Cordner, Sims, O'donnell, mase jnr and Vaivai all meeting their potential would be well worth turning up to see in years to come.

Like your mob beat them so comprehensively....

18-6 wasnt it? A couple of late tries put them away?

Yeah, round ONE in the RAIN. This is now round 17-18 where teams have alot of games behind them.
Newcastle will be the team that stops Bennett from making the finals for the first time since 1991

What about Rod Mason playing alongside his brother? It could be the making of Rod Mason. Maybe Rod just needs that extra carrot to really lift his game to first grade standard.

Off the bench...

My original post was questioning who would replace Snowden in the starting prop position. I stated I hoped it would not be Cuthbo, even if has has found a little form from the bench. Bench is his spot, not starting prop.

I'll be happy to see O'Donnell given a shot. I know he can have an error in him, but at least he'll give us plenty of size up front and hopefully some aggression, like his older brother had!

The Newcastle Knights have named an 18-man squad for Sunday’s Round 18 clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium.

Zeb Taia replaces Kade Snowden in the front row; Snowden will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks due to a knee injury.

The Knights have added Chris Adams, who has played two NRL games this season, and Kyle O’Donnell to an extended bench. O’Donnell, who is yet to make his NRL debut, has spent this week in camp with the NSW Cup Representative team and will play in the curtain raiser game to Wednesday’s Origin decider at Suncorp Stadium.

Swap Taia and Houston and it makes a bit more sense.

I don't think O'Donnell will play.

Hoping Tets gets good game time this round!
