Wait if this happened with 5 minutes to go the Cowboys would not have been able to challenge as their was no stop in play.

Soooo what was the stop in play? Full-time 🤔

If you believe the NRL spin that’s already come out, the ref blew a “short whistle” which only stops the game but doesn’t end it, allowing a challenge to be made. Had he blown a “long whistle” the game would have been over and no challenge

After playing so poorly compared to our potential (large parts of last season), how we're still only 4 competition points off (equal) second - which would have been only two points, if the Tigers beat the Cowboys - I honestly don't know?

Why did the ref blow a short whistle?
Is that what they do every game?

12 of the players from 2020 are the same. Including the entire 8-13 potential starting forwards.
One big change is Matterson no longer defending alongside Moses. We had the fourth best defence last year as well with Matterson playing 16 games on the edge. Now we've got f**ken Papali'i out there to take advantage of his ability to run over the top of halfbacks.

That’s on the coach. I think having Papali’i starting is messing up the balance of the bench as well where we lose a lot of impact when the starters go off. I think with Brown likely out the door we’ve made our bed and will now have to live or die by this decision.

Another interesting thing I noticed is that Panthers almost have 2 players in the top 10 for missed tackles (Liam Martin is 6th with 68 and Koroisau is 11th with 62). We have 2 in the top 25 with Moses at 14th with 60 and Mahoney at 15th with 59. We don’t have anymore but Penrith do with Kikau at 23rd with 53. Makes you wonder if the defence is due to attitude/structures rather than having too many weak defenders.

Its an odd situation.

All the long/short whistle gump aside, are we saying the final play of a game in unchallengeable? Should a team be entitled to do anything they want? ... i think it makes sense to be able to challenge the last play - the end of the game is a stoppage.

The actual reason for the penalty i thought was a bit iffy. I reckon the tigers player did attempt to get in feldts way, but i think he did it in a reasonable enough way to get away with it. So i think it was harsh.

I feel the end of game should come once the current set is over in both halves.
To often sides have 50 seconds a full set and the opposition just lay all over them. It completely ruins the set and almost makes it pointless and impossible to score. You end up with a 6 again but 2 less shots with ball cause they've wasted 30 seconds every tackle laying on top.

Tigers got shafted big time. I think it would definitely have happened to us as well if we were in that situation.

It's nothing to do with weak defenders (other than Moses). We have a big strong pack that copes fine with the opposition running straight at them. The issue is lack of hard workers filling gaps and getting numbers into the tackle to (legally) slow the ruck.
