Leader board after week 1 is:

Pearce 3
RTS 2
Cords 1

Yesterday was an annoying loss, I thought we were better for the 25 minutes either side of half time and they were better for the remainder. Souths just don’t know how to lose at the moment but I think Jake Friend would have made a huge difference.

It was an odd game in that both sides got lucky tries and both sets of defences were pretty ordinary at times, I am thinking the heat from the respective games last week and then this week ended up getting to all the players. SKDs stuff up was annoying but we were still in a position to win in the 2nd half and should have.

I think the positive is that souffs will be heralded as the 2nd coming of Christ by the media now and we can go back to business as usual, massive danger game next week though against a confident and underrated Panthers side.

3 Moa
2 Aubo
1 JWH

Yeah the pigs share all points this week, our much vaunted backline should have made more of their effort in the middle.

We've had our SKDerp moment for this month, should be smooth sailing till April.

Disappointing but we can hold our heads up.

Will get em next time.

Chook.

Blake Ferguson hasnt seem to hit his straps yet in the attacking department constantly getting bent back, losing ground.

I like the look of your bench evans, taukiho, napa and aubusson.

Very good bench. however, what happens to maubs when jake friend returns.

I wish Evans had stayed at Souths Juniours

Sorry hard to give many points to our starting forwards. Souths punched holes through our ruck, have a look at how many Souths forwards gained over 100 metres with ball in hand - 5 of their starting forwards whereas we had 2.

Not all of them were bad but many of them were not as effectiveasthey could have been.

For mine -

3 points: Michael Jennings. Did what he was supposed to do when given decent ball.
2 points: Kane Evans. Really lifted the side when he came on.
1 point: Dylan Napa. Our best metre getter amongst all our forwards.

I'm normal pretty down when we lose to Souffs but not yesterday. The game was too good for that. Both teams had a lot of luck - good and bad (we got away with about 7 forward passes) but we lost to the slightly better team. Friend can't come back soon enough. Pierce needs to stop talking Origin during the week and concentrate on the day-to-day. Maloney's goal kicking has slipped and well, the usual bi-polar effort from SKD. Our bench however was spectacular. I can't remember Maubs looking more dangerous. Souffs have the momentum at the moment but I think we'll be better next time round.

To be fair, Pearce is asked questions about origin by the media.

The attention will be on Reynolds now.

As to Maloney's goal kicking, it is not as though he missed any sitters. The 2 he missed were out wide.

SKD dropping the ball over the line was just cringe inducing. I like Shaun but it amazes me how, a first grade players of his experience, still makes so many unforced errors in a game.

One thing our halves need to work on though is their kicking in general play. I thought they used the bomb too often in the second half when a grubber would have been the better option, let alone occasionally running the ball. A couple of the bombs needed to be caught on the full to be effective - all that happened was they bounced and went over the dead ball line or touch in goal. Worse, they were not to Tupou's wing but to SKD's. Both Pearce and Maloney were lacking in variety in their kicking game when inside the Souths 20 metre line in the 2nd half.

Yeh, I know that mate but you'd think he could chuck in the usual boring "no comment" or "I'm just concentrating on Souths" instead of "I'd love to have another crack at Origin".

Captain, I know they were difficult kicks but I just don't have the confidence in him as I once did. I thought so last year as well. His second half of 2013 seems to be his peak period ATM.

Great game, no shame to lose, who's to say what would have happened if SKD puts the ball down though. Hard to blame him since we let both Inglis and Keary stroll through our line untouched (or bumped off) though.

3 RTS looked dangerous all day
2 Maubs big metres from the bench, always a thread
1 Maloney sharp short kicking game often pulled results

Well I think your fears are misplaced to be honest. Since he has been at the Roosters, Maloney's goal kicking rates are:

2013

Goals Scored: 108.
Goals Attempted: 124.
Success Rate: 87.1%.

2014

Goals Scored: 106:
Goals Attempted: 127.
Success Rate: 83.46%.

2015 (up to and including Round 2)

Goals Scored: 7.
Goal Attempted: 10.
Success Rate: 70%.

Now yes it is a fall in 2015, but when the sample is so small it is hard to say at this point it is a big fall off. I think you are being a little harsh myself. As to the difference between 2013 and 2014 a 4 % difference is not much to worry about.

Could've given the points to plenty of others really. Thought our bench was great, the 3 young bulls we have really ripped in. Aubo was typical Aubo, a true Clubman! Love the bloke.

Like Babyface I'm not to disappointed after this loss, apart from it being to Souffs. Jake comes back into this team and we'll start rolling teams.

Watched the replay last night and I still can't work out how we lost. Key moments I guess as Robbo said.
