btw, once dropped to reggies isn't it up to the reggies coach to decide who plays where but of course certain people here will overlook that just too take another swipe at Smith he deserves a fair bit of blame but not 100%

thats true buy some players the prem coach has put in the side looks like he has favs like smith...

ok then blame Matt Cameron for Witt being benched not Smith

by the way some people carry on here next Brian Smith will be blamed for Hitler being born.

Smith has nothing to do with the selections for Premier league, that falls to Matt Cameron, prehaps or the Witt lovers can bag him

if or I should say when Parra beat the bronocs I'm betting less then 5 people give Smith 1 tiny bit of credit

it will all be a great performance by Petersen under pressure of taking Lyon's spot that gave the Eels the win not

It was a good ploy by smith to name Muzza in the centres.

Surely a side with five genuine wingers in the backline can not and will not be classified as being capable of potential.

I can see where Smith is now eventually going to go with this, he is going to have 6 Front Rowers in the Forwards and 6 Wingers in the backs with a Five-Eighth to pass them all the ball!!

What a goose! That will just about do me!

The point I was making Jess unless as you can't seem to see it I'll point it out.

Whenever the team is going bad the coach is the 1swt to cop it but when the team goes good the coach gets no credit.

next to refs, coaches cop the most abuse and get the fewest compliments

We have been spanked by more than 30 points and there is effectively only one change and that was forced due to Lyons absence. So the only change effectively is Lyon Out, probable Webster in with a couple of minor reshuffles to the starting team.

Well.......if anything else, it will be interesting. I cant see anything more than a similar result

Disagree. He's head coach. Surely he has some influence. When managing players - esp the crucial ones (is there any more crucial young bloke at the club) the head coach will always keep tabs on him. It may be Cameron's responsibility for selection, but it wouldn't have happened without some discussion with Smith about it.

Look, smith keeping Vella and wags is his coaching policy. he keeps the highly paid players in top grade for as longh as possible, because of the investment the club has put into them. He believes that,as coach,it is his job to ensure that the club gets value for their dollar, and so he tries other ways to turn form around.

Wagons defence is a good point, and he is marking Lockeyer. Still, we syure as hell are not going to see Grothe score 4 tries, are we.

Having looked at the bench - hell I've had to do something (sleep is well over rated) its quite a straight forward set up at this stage of proceedings but we'll see.

At this stage I have the inkling that the team will play as

1. Burt
3. Matt Petersen
18. Luke O'Dwyer
4. David Vaealiki
5. Eric Grothe
9. John Morris
7. Adam Dykes
8. Aaron Cannings
14. James Webster
10. Michael Vella
11. Nathan Hindmarsh
12. Nathan Cayless
6. Daniel Wagon

Reserves:
13. Lee Hopkins
15. Craig Stapleton
16. Adam Peek
17. Corey Pearson

Much like Wayne Bennett did to take pressure of Karmichale Hunt in his debut last week and Smith did with Witt last year O'Dwyer has been named as an extra on the bench. This takes media focus off the debutant and allows him to make his debut under less pressure.

I wouldn't be too unhappy with that as a run on side, as long as a few of them pull finger and give it 100 % this week, ie Mr Vella, and if Cannings has had some slip catching practice this week i'm sure he will be a big improver.

This is true but Hopkins starting at hooker would be better.

Probably would be.... however I was trying to think like Brian  (geez that was scary by the way..... ) and basded on how he likes to manouvere before a game this is how I think they'll run out. Mind you they could well run out as per program to knowing BS.

That side looks good on paper Colonel. Hopefully they will play that way but I think Smith has a real soft spot for Kativerata. The new Kusto perhaps.

Almost every year under Brian Smith there is one highly contentious player included in the FG side that 99.9% of Eels supporters say should be playing on the bench in Reserves at best. Last year it was Steve Crouch. The year before, Kusto/Mcfadden, before that Dallas Weston, Paul Carrige etc...

Me thinks, Kativerata = 2004 pet project

When you take over as coach of the Eels I bags the assistant coach spot.

Wagon in the centres is still better I think.
