Round 2 v Manly Sea Beagles - Team List

If you’re talking about middle players then I believe this already happens, though the bloke stays on until he starts losing effectiveness then returns to the field sometime after half time when he is fresh enough to play out the rest of the game.

But he also mightn’t come back on (unless he is a key player like Taumalolo) until they have wrung the juice out of the bloke he is replacing, assuming there isn’t much talent difference between the two. This way you get your ‘moneys worth’ out of each interchange.

So if Mannah goes off at 20 minutes, maybe he’s ready to come back on at half time, but doing so would mean he would have to play the entire second half, which would mean he would have to pace himself. So instead he waits until Matagi runs out of steam (maybe at about the 50th minute) and then comes on and goes nuts for another 15-20.
I just meant any of the forwards. That it would be an advantage to have guys who can last at least until halftime in order to save an interchange, rather than go off and come back on. But having thought about it, you've got eight interchanges so you might as well use them. If we go down to six that may change things.

I look at both teams and think they have 5 players that could make our team. The Turbo boys, Taupau, Cherry and their hooker/dummy half Korosau (i cant spell his name).

Rest of their team is pretty ordinary and we should win.

in the telegraph fantasy comp

i have my back rowers
Jake T 651,000
N Brown $573,000
T Merrin $518,000

part of my 4 man bench
Kikau 187,000
Rochow $242,000
So it looks like your starters are scoring a point for every ten grand of price. Isn’t that the expected output for Scott?

Gower is playing in the 2s so highly likely he wont be playing.
Rumour has it Scott will be omitted so our bench will be.
Taka, Smith, Matagi and Evans I guess.

Yeah exactly. If Nathan Brown can last 80 minutes then Alvaro and Mannah can. They just need to reduce their work rate (tackles per minute) to Brown’s levels. But we want to use our interchanges, because they allow our workers to work harder in limited minutes. They could last longer if they paced themselves, but that’s not why they’re in the team.

You’re right though that dropping to six interchanges would be a huge change. That would be a reduction in the current interchange by 25%. I think there would be more 80 minute players rather than blokes starting and only playing one stint. You would probably have three or four forwards using all the interchanges with the rest playing 80.

But there is no value in having a player like Scott who only scores 30-40 and costs 350k. He will not go up in price (likely to drop). And scores of 30-40 are shit house. You can get that kind of point scoring from a rookie who is currently a lot cheaper and will go up in price. Then you sell/trade him once he reaches a plateau price wise and you have made cash to upgrade

Are there enough rookies playing each week to spend your spare cash on? I play AFL fantasy and finding a rookie that actually gets to play most weeks is like striking gold.

BA said in his interview today Scott has been sick.

Kane Evans basically said he and the bench forwards f**ked up last week in his interview yesterday.

BTW - interviews on the eels website.

I suppose that too could work. Tepai/Alvaro/Mannah to bench at 20min. Probably one of the props if Taka plays rest of game. And why would you waste another interchange to take him back off. Another 2 for swapping King & Smith (or one depending on Kingy's end of first half [not so good last week] or Smith can even stay on late depending on situation) although that then restricts your forward movements. Thus how I got to starting Taka

What?

Not necessarily. Ideally you dont want any of your 17 selected to average only 30-40, especially a forward inconsistent (in fantasy world) as Scott who comes off the bench. He scored 18 fantasy points in Rd 1. His value of 352k will plummet soon unless (unlikely) he scores very big next game or two.

Brown scored me over 70 points in rd 1, Merrin did 79 today. So the expected output pro rata talk comparing Scott is chalk and cheese

Having said that 1412 punters have him in their 25 man squad (there is over 120k people playing)
in other words 1.2% of the fantasy players have him

The winner of the competition will not have Scott anywhere near their top 25

I'm going to shithole Lottoland with the Manly loving in-laws today. I'm going to need an intervention if we lose. $35 to sit on the dirt....

Yep, there are enough rookies / cheapies that play enough that will see them get a price wise over the first 4-6 weeks.

No one with any sense will have Beau Scott in their team.
