Ciraldo is near the definition of plod.

Played across nine seasons averaging under eleven games a season.

I've always associated plod with blokes who are obviously fantastic trainers and pros off the field. A good footy brain but not the talent/athleticism to match.

Jorgo wasn't plod. On his day he was an excellent fullback, problem was those days weren't that regular.

Memory is a bit hazy to be fair, you might be right on 2nd thought, don't recall too many shockers, so maybe he was plod with the odd game of brilliance thrown in occasionally.
After he did his leg (think it was knee) he came back slow. Pity, because prior to that he was electric.

Iamback, you mention skill, speed, power but not mentality. The best players are not always the fastest, strongest and most skilful, there are those who have that inner "Warrior" that drives them on when others give up. Its not just fitness, its a toughness and courage that means they don't let people like NAS and JWH intimidate them. It is the sort of thing QLD has displayed in SOO time and time again. They really get that mentality is more important than skill. Ivan says as much in his book. Fitness and attitude over skill every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Kenny is elite level tough, Martin too. They elevated our original forward pack to "God level". Fish, Moses, Kenny and Marto weren't just up for it, they revelled in the battle. The demolition of the Eels is one of the most brutal destructions of a forward pack you will ever see. All of it legal, but just a crushing display of defensive toughness.

I actually do get what you are saying. We are probably the least exciting team in the NRL. We don't have a single flashy player who can create magic like Walsh, Savage, Turbo or Munster. We don't do fast, we get there are as soon as we can. An end of season sprint race would be sad for Panthers fans as we would finish last.

Yet, here we are. Four in a row, the only team ever to win all four grades in one year, a team that made the biggest comeback in GF history. A team full of slow players and who are of average skill. Mentality though. Now, that's where we are truly elite. Not the pinnacle, obviously, but still pretty damn good.

Trent Clayton is a good one.

Famously played for Toulouse Olympique as well. 8 tries in 9 games.

He was the one I went blank on I knew it was a winger and not Todd Byrne. So we have

1. Jorgo
2.
3. Momo
4.
5. Clayton
6.
7. Rodwell
8.
9.
10.
11. Peterson
12.
13.

Are putting Catic as plod or Fringe?

You are right, throw fitness in no other side comes close. Eventually a team or teams will get to that level. So if we can have say a 14 that can be an x factor.

Or keep Papalli on the bench. Maybe have Moses join him to have 2 powerful props replacing the safe Smith/Henry late in the 1st half

that was where the comment from me came from replacing Spencer with Henry last year.
Now trying to find the 20 odd tries Luai had a hand in and Fish being a top 3 prop in the comp.

It wasn't a slight on the guys we have now but someone like Kenny isn't holding back explosive speed or a passing game to find 5 extra tries.

Martin too is crazy. Will belt anyone, I'd hate to tackle him but he isn't going to Fifita or Kiks with the ball in hand.

So what ever you want to call it, the squad has plenty of it but how to add to what they lack with the last few spots in the 17. Is the jist of the discussion.

Something will feel a bit empty if we never see Marto in the middle. The big boys are just as scared of him as the guys out wide. I want to see him dominate them

I certainly wouldn’t say Liam Henry is a plod, he’s making our 17 everyday of the week.

Out of our squad in my eyes, they I use the term, Esio is a plodder. Will never be good enough to named in our starting 17, but he reliably does a job when he’s called on. Great work ethic at training and offers a lot to the team over the distance of a season.

That’s what I’d say a plodder is.

If Henry is fit to return this week I‘d have Eisunhuth in the 17 in front of Patea I think he needs to start ripping it up in Cup before getting more opportunities in our top 17.

Yeah by the talk here Cameron Smith is a plodder. Body of an accountant and one of the smartest players to ever play.

I never said he wasn't in the 17. Just he should start and get hard running guys off the bench

How many minutes is that spot getting though? That is why it should be a different style of player

so who in our squad doesn't have a good work ethic?

Eusinhuth deserves his spot, he’d get the same amount of minutes as Patea and offers more at this point. Seriously Patea needs to start ripping in in NSW Cup, was underwhelming yesterday.
