How can you say they're fit? They fell apart at the 60 minute mark. Cookie admitted after the game they were stuffed. Spirited maybe, but fit teams don't let in 28 points in the last 20 minutes.

Yeah, true. They were up to their eyeballs in that game and let it go because they were tired the last 20 minutes. It doesn’t make sense. Not a good thing for a first grade player to come out and say. When your only job is to play footy and be fit, but you lose because you’re tired. Make something up Cookie.
Fitness isn't the issue. They're fit. Every NRL team is so much fitter than eras past.
You're mistaking fitness for fatigue. Melbourne completed at 95% in the first half with 3/4 of a representative class spine and that fullback looks like he is going to be something too. Defending against a 95% completion rate fatigues the defenders. Fatigue is not representative of fitness. Example - I'm fit for my age and I run long distance. If I hit a hill in the last 2 kilometres of a half marathon I slow down and my body works harder. I'm less fresh and less nimble and less focussed at the top of that hill than I was at the bottom. Not because I'm unfit, but because I'm fatigued.
On the other hand we made crucial errors at crucial times. Dragons specials. I'm sure I wasn't the only fan just before half time after we hit the front who was 99.9% certain we'd let Melbourne score right on the half time hooter. I texted my son and said watch them let Melbourne score. I've seen it so many times before.
Than Cook's kick out on the full. Only the Dragons. You can't do that with a team like the Storm.
Then comes that fullback at the end of the game. Anyone remember a guy called Jarryd Hayne doing exactly the same thing to us in a SF in 2009? That side wasn't unfit. Sometimes things like that just happen. Especially in Vlandysball.
Perhaps we would be better off not gifting the Storm the ball in perfect field postion with 18 minutes to go.
Vlandysball has created a perfect storm (pardon the pun) with the six agains and fatigue and the way momentum in a game swings. Blowouts at the end of games are normal now.

100%, I had visions of the Hayne Plane as well when the Fa'alogo go came alive. He destroyed Saints and will do so to other teams. This kid is a talent. How do Melb find these freak talents. From Slater to Pap to Fa'alogo. Their eye for talent is 1st class.

As I’ve said in a previous post this morning. There is literally no one that we can bring up who isn’t under the age of 22 who is going to save our club week in and week out

Look at cup yesterday who has the”nrl experience” who can boost us.

- Sloan’s had his chance many times
- Lykan defensive poor and if it wasn’t for Hia the last two weeks I do think he would’ve come on to play halves and move Kyle to 9

These are the ONLY 2 who have more than 20 nrl games.

a lot on here act like we have a plethora of NRL experience in New South Wales cup not getting the run. Unfortunately, we don’t have that luxury..

I wish we had players to replace Guler, Kerr in the front row.
If Sloan actually came good and was able to deliver consistently at fullback then we would solve our dire 5/8 issue instantly by having the current fb switch to 5/8 and touching the ball at least 3 times each set. Then our current 5/8 who has had many many chances to shine but has not, would make a suitable 14 or a captain of the NSW CUP Team.

Meanwhile, dargons have Stevie wonder’s eye for talent.

We have a fb coming through the ranks in Ollie Burton who’s only 17 it would not surprise me if he plays jersey Flegg next year that’s how high the club rates him
Ollie definitely on the fast-track, he is 2-3yrs away though from tasting first grade, so we do need to buy a fullback to fill that time.. its also possible Ollie doesnt make it.. or gets injured or ends up a winger or ctr.. but looks a gun fullback at this stage.

Rokko Walker is another very similar build in the struggling dragons 17's systems... but hes signed up I think 2029 if we can keep him happy... but similar skillset, better footwork than Burton but doesnt have the fullback pedigree that Ollie does (Ollie has all the defensive side sorted), but Rokko is a gun that will play somewhere in our backline... if we can keep both of them.. I think both make our first grade squad in ~3yrs.

There are other guns in the Steelers 17's though, again if we can keep the bulk of them at the club.. and Ah Kee from Dragons 19's who looks the best of all of em @ 5/8 ... but he is yet to sign a contract and not holding my breath.

I think some of us are getting ahead of ourselves.
As coach Cleary said last year, let's see where things are at in May.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over our premiership start. For me, I'm enjoying the brand of footy the boys are playing. They seem to be going after the game a lot more than in the Griffin - Mary years. I'm happy with Kyle too. His job in attack is to feed our left edge which think he has done quite well. Not a star runner of the ball...but neither was Cronk. Be nice to have better....but at the moment, we don't.

If people have a pathological need to be following a premiership contender, may I suggest you follow another team and then come back in a few years time. You'll lead happier lives.

Oops, my bad....judging by the posts I've seen, - most of you won't live that long. Looks like those people will just have to keep living in their own private hell.
I was with you until the last sentence. Not cool

Probably unnecessary, I admit.
However the amount of toxic posts I read on our "supporters forum" makes me wonder about what's going on in the lives of such people.

I'm not sure that harbouring such venom towards any sports entertainment enterprise & it's employees is healthy.

DISEASE = not at ease. As the saying goes, 'disease is in the mind before it's in the body' Stress is a silent killer. Accumulation causes hypertension where the mind affects body function - leading to cancers, strokes, anuisms & heart attacks etc....Medicines? most often "introducing one poison to get rid of another" - as spoken to me by a man who was a NSW Secretary for Health in the 1950s. My grandfather.

The clumsy point of my post was some folks will send themselves to an early grave -wrapped in a hellish mindset of their own making. And you and I won't control that. It’s everybody's own choice.

If you spend the time trawling over my numerous previous posts, you will see that I have been overwhelmingly positive and hopeful in my contribution, - while others openly declare that following the Dragons threatens their mental & physical well-being. Some threaten to unfollow the team....only to reappear as invested as ever!!!

There's a huge carry on about Hate Speech in the media and politics at the moment. If those people ever investigate the Dragons forum site, we'd be shut down tomorrow. The pro- Palestinians mob have nothing on us. Bloody amateurs. Want real hate? We're still open for business. Our specially is eating our own.

I’m a fan!

I get the frustration, I appreciate some comments about changes or problems, but I hate the negativity on this forum. ive Reduced my reading of it because it doesn’t feel like a dragons forum anymore. It feels like we are being bombarded with trolls from other teams who just want to stir up trouble, from people who only pretend to be dragons fans.

i was at the game, we made too many mistakes, but the boys pushed hard regardless and fought against what is unfortunately a better side than us atm. If this was v a bottom 4 side I’d be pissed, but these last 2 games we are fighting with top 8 teams, maybe top 4 teams. Green shoots are emerging, I hope we grow them into a premiership force, but for now I feel the team is way ahead of where we we’re just a few years back.

The negativity is certainly warranted mate. At the end of the day it’s still 0-2 doesn’t matter how you look at it, it’s a results driven business, not to mention we’ve been mediocre for over a decade pretty concerning right ?? Most fans on this platform are handing out participation awards for effort lol. I’ve been getting hammered on this forum for all the negativity. 0-3

We have endured 15 straight seasons of ongoing decline, we have a point.

Hope so mate. Sloan was supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. I really hope that it does pan out for him and that it’s not too late

Just because some posters have different opinions it doesn't have to be labelled negative. That's just a cop out and there is a positive only thread for you to enjoy and post in but don't whinge because people have different opinions on a public forum. That's ludicrous
