On the back of a disappointing loss to Manly in Round 1, Brisbane find themselves in Wollongong for the first away game of the year where they will do battle against classic foes the St. George Illawarra Dragons.

Can the Broncos restore some faith after a terrible 40 minutes of football or are they doomed to be the laughing stock of the 2013 season? We'll find out on Friday!

After our poor performance against the Storm, our only saving grace is a home game.

I thought you guys played pretty well in the first half and if you can play the full 80 minutes like that against us, then we will have our backs to the wall.

Anyway, as long as it's a good game and may the best team win.

That's the issue though - we find ourselves in the same position as last season where they will play a dynamite or (at least adequate) first half and then fall to pieces for the second half.

That said - if you look at the positives out of last week - if Reed doesn't drop the pill 5m out from his own tryline, and the ref's give a penalty try to Macca as they should have, we might have been talking about a poor second half performance and still coming away with a W.

Knowing Griffin, there won't be any changes so the side should look as follows:

1. Norman
2. Hoffman
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Maranta
6. Prince
7. Wallace
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Thaiday
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker

14. Hunt
15. Hannant
16. Dodds
17. Stagg

Swap Stagg and Gillett or Swap Gillett for Hannant in the starting line up. Dodds has to go, need more punch off the bench, give one of our young guys a go like Oates, Molo or Timu. Personally my side would be

1. Hodges
2. Hoffman
3. Reed
4. Whitchurch
5. Maranta
6. Prince
7. Wallace
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Hannant
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Hunt
15. Gillett/Oates
16. Molo
17. Timu

really don't like hunt coming off the bench, either he is starting or not in the team at all, he really gives us nothing off the bench.

I can't see Hoffman getting dropped - he was probably the most dangerous runner apart from Hodges on Friday night. He took more responsibility at the back than Norman too.

If it's confirmed Norman is going to the Eels this week, I'd have no problem with Griffin pulling a Benny and shoveling him off to QCup. Kemp could come onto the wing, Hoffman back to fullback and Hunt into the halves (won't happen though) with Wallace on the bench.

I guess we'll find out today.

maranta is doing well for a rookie
just needs more time with hodges mentoring

we need kemp on the other wing to hodges so we can attack from both sides
or throw kemp at fullback and allow him to inject where he sees fit

people seem to be forgetting kemp knows the game
has the experiance and now
the hunger after some time out
he would want to prove himself

I'm pretty sure the only reason Griffin has kept him in Qcup is to regain match fitness. I'd expect to see him in the side soon.

for me stagg and dodds don't provide any impact off the bench, hunt does and hannant works well in the front row rotation, but all our backrow strike power is starting. We need a back rower impact player on the bench, a Timu or Oates type player. If you are gonna have Stagg in your side, he has to start and play 80 minutes week in week out. Even a Stagg and Gillett swap makes the side look better.

Yes I agree with you Kiwi - although the current bench could work much more effectively if Griffin used it properly...

Agree with the strength of the bench. David Hala will no doubt add some spice if and when he returns.
