Sinking to low blows? Wow, I respected you until you referred to him as a douchebag. He did plenty of good for our team and yet you refer to usual male regressions. Good one. Plenty of other young blokes have survived worse than that. I'll take that panadol and go to bed.

Still don’t get the Dugan love whilst you bag Dufty every chance you get.

And it’s a fact he missed the team bus and got punted from the team the 2nd last round last year against the Panthers whilst we were clawing for a finals spot. So yes, I stand by my opinion on Dugan.

You do realise he plays for the Sharks don’t you? Their forum is that way. He’s not getting a whole lot of love over there either.

Also I know we were penalised a few times in crucial moments last year for taking opposition players back past the try line in exact same circumstances as Dufty was, not saying the ref got it wrong but the inconsistency shits me

Bullshit. I'm telling you as I see it. I've got no need to troll the Sharks because I can't stand them. Disappointed that Duges chose them but it's business right?

When? I can't recall us being brought to task for that play at all.

Dufty continues to impress me. IMO he was more dangerous and effective then Boyd in R1, and more dangerous and effective than Dugan in R 2. His confidence is growing and consider many world class players who've played for years add extras to their games ie bay playing improves....he's got some way to go but he looks the goods to me

It's just my opinion

Jeezuz you're easily impressed. I'm tying hard not to laugh but I couldn't help myself. Better than Duges? No way. Better than Quinlan? No way. Better than Boyd? You're kidding right.. Can't bloody tell. Each to their own though I say Xx
DQ, it is very early days and I am actually quite impressed with Duftys positional play and defense thus far. Yes he is a little bloke and gets thrown around, thats what happens to little blokes. But he looks dangerous in attack and usually beats his man.
He may struggle a bit against teams like the Sharks who play a defensive power game but wait until he comes up against teams like the tigers, raiders, panthers, warriors etc on a dry track. Dufty will have a field day. He's exciting and adds a bit of x-factor. Something we haven't had for a while.

Terrific effort by our boys, particularly that first 40 when Cronulla were enjoying the perfect half ( except in scoring ), strong "10 point" wind at their back, a mountain of possession, an uncharacteristic high completion rate, great kicking game and it must be said the rub of the green compliments of the NRL's dodgiest ref combo by far. Even so, you could sense that the 2nd 40 could very well go our way after such a great showing to weather the storm by our boys.
That's our best defensive effort in yonks, even out wide which was so encouraging to witness.
We can beat anyone. Aitken's come good, Ah Mau who already has plenty of "mojo" has found his "loco", Sims has stepped it up and while our halves are still gelling we know from the Broncs game they are dangerous enough as individuals so it can only get better. Big rasp to Nene, well done !
On a slight negative, Lafai - hopefully he will come good and shine but it's Mary's use of the bench that's a concern. Over 200 tackles in the 1st Half and a big 2nd rower not used at all with another bench player thrown in at the death. If we want another mid-season slump, that's how you set it up.

Just reading back through this thread and noticed a bit of angst directed at Dufty and I'm wondering why.
So he let a ball bounce, it happens sometimes, it was blowing a gale. If he had caught it he would have got absolutely hammered by Dugan anyway who had him lined up before he changed direction towards Nightie.
The rest of the night he went OK for a 9 game rookie and his stats from 2 games are actually quite good - he leads the league in tackle breaks for FB's with 12, he's 2nd in metres gained ( 80mtrs more than Duges ) and NO missed tackles. He's on the same number of errors ( 3 ) as Dugan, Boyd, Johnston and Tedesco. Dugan's stats are terrible in comparison.

Boyd dropped a sitter last night too. If Dufty dropped the same ball that Boyd dropped last night, forum posters on this site would have critcised him heavily.

The negativity from people on this site is way over the top.

FF he has not been criticised much for the dropped ball, the people that aren't 100% sold on him yet are generally more concerned about other aspects of his play.

Many posters have highlighted what they thought were Dugan's shortcomings, Lafai's, Aitken's, Nene's etc., so why is it not OK to talk about what some see as shortcomings in Dufty's play. I hope he makes it but I have concerns and I don't like the fact we have spent so much getting the halves right to then gamble on a rookie fullback and first grader who needs work on his game. This is not having a go at Dufty (he didn't pick himself) it is more about highlighting the illogical choices made by the club.

Is it really angst? Angst would be what is written about the likes of the wingers and centres. Whatever may be written about Dufty is pretty tame in comparison. And how many are suggesting he should be dropped?

As for the stats, keep in mind Dufty has played one more game than most fullbacks, so even if he is 2nd in metres gained, it's really like 10th in average metres gained. Dugan has also played one game at centre.

We had Dugan at fullback for 4 and half years and went nowhere. I think we are going to go well this year.
I would rather we have Dufty at fullback than Dugan.
Bloody hell. I've heard it all now. Has it entered your mind that we have a crap coach, one that wants to be one of the boys? Dugan is a loss to me. My opinion, and I couldn't give a rat's arse if you think Dufty is better. He isn't. He's quick no doubt, but every team worth their measure will shut him down. He was running around in circles trying to get around the Bronco's defence. Only took on the line once if I recall. Correct me if I'm wrong Frank.

Another vote for Dufty.. ..no value in spending $800k for Dugan.

Also, Ricky Leutele got forced back in goal by our defence from inside his own 10 metres......should Sharks drop him too?

Each to their own I guess. BTW he also got dragged over the line by a Bulldogs reserve team in the ISP semis. Not that this was an issue?
I'm bored..
