I agree it's sad, but not unprecedented.

I remember we also tried to get Bellamy, and actually did get Bennett to agree to terms, not long after McGregor was appointed interim coach after Price was sacked.

Bellamy turned us down, while Lachlan Murdoch did his best Vito Corleone impression by making Bennett "an offer he couldn't refuse", so ended up at the donkeys.

History tell us we ended up with McGregor for several years, with the promise from one board member (forgot his name, but I think it was the real estate agent?) that he would be the next super coach.

Oh dear. After recalling all of that, I'm now feeling very depressed.
