You'll have to give us an around the grounds report Beads!

Scott Anderson and Darren Lockyer are cleared to play. Lui has popped a rib in the build up to the game.

I'm quietly confident about this game. Based on what we've seen, Melbourne should just be too professional BUT I feel like our boys can lift for this game. Will be very interesting to see what happens.

I'll post on BHQ some updates, if I can pull may hands out of my pockets, going to be freezing.. In the front row of the away supporters bay so it will be pretty cool. Should be able to get the signature of Gagai since he can't make the grade in first grade ;-)

Our forwards were strong and our kicking game too, but we didn't have it in us to break Melbourne's defence. You could probably say it was just an off night for a couple of our big name backs. I'm hoping come finals time we've improved enough to be capable of scoring more than just tries off bombs against the good defences.

Gutted to be beaten so comprehensively in the end, we were well within that game but the Storm just finished all over the top of us.

I agree with Ghoulies, our backs were pretty disappointing, in particular Hodges who's still finding his feet. All of them came up with crucial mistakes and hopefully the learn from it.

3. Corey Parker
2. Sam Thaiday
1. Ben Hannant

Honorable mentions: Andrew McCullough, Alex Glenn and Josh Hoffman

Even though Parker and Hoffman came up with pretty big mistakes, they were still very good.

Hunt, Anderson and Dodds were crap. Hunt needs to go.

They weren't 20 points better than us, that is really disappointing. They were great though.

Melbourne definately took their chances when they had them unlike Brisbane. Both Lockyer and Wallace need to start running the ball more.

I'm still amazed how Melbourne don't get penalised more for holding down after the tackle is completed.

I think if the St. George game is a yardstick for where we're at, we should win this. But, stranger things happen, and you usually don't get any help with the referees in Melbourne. IMO Melbourne aren't all that, we showed that without our Origin players.

"Melbourne aren't all that"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol.

Stick to the Yankee Doodle Dandies mate. You obviously haven't watched much of the Stormerz this year.

just got home from the game.

Can't believe Brisbane didn't lose by 50. Storm never got over of second gear.

We were schooled in finals footy today. Cam Smith in particular was out of this world. They spent most of the first half defending their line and only conceded one lucky try to us. We whould have been ahead by at least a try at half time.

Granted, our backs weren't very good on the night, with the exception of Hoffman and Yow Yeh. Hodges normally has much better vision and still looks rusty, while Reed was disappointing and Beale... Better not say anything, or Beads might cry.
The halves were pretty good. Excellent kicking game pinning the Storm down deep on their own territory and punishing Slater continuously.

Good go forward too, we definitely had the upper hand there, but a few silly mistakes cost us dearly, as the Storm pounced on them.

Can only hope we'll go up a gear from here, especially in attack!

Man, I really hate Smith when he's playing against us (not playing for Qld). He's so good.

3 - Parker
2 - Thaiday
1 - McCullough - looks much quicker than the start of the year.

CAN WE PLEASE GET RID OF HUNT.

Disappointing score line in the end .......obviously, I know

but

I didn't think 6-26 did us justice. Mehh....maybe it did. I don't know. A bit gutted at the moment.

At half time I thought we were right in it. Mc was having a blinder and then griffin pulled him off and replaced him with

........Hunt

*sigh*

Parker was outstanding. Hannant and Thaiday the next best. Glenn and Gillett were a bit quite. The others just appeared to be making up the numbers in defence.

Hoffman the best for mine in the backs. Hodges looked particularly awkward.......I thought Reeds effort letting Blair run over the top of him for the Storms first try was weak. Beale and YY never looked comfortable.

Locky and Wallace were trying. Nothing seemed to be coming off.

Can't take anything away from the Storm........they are a class outfit.

The refereeing was poor. It went both ways.

Desperately need to bounce back hard next week against the Sharkies. Piss Hunt off.....bring back Baptiste. Anderson, McGuire and Dodds .......are not going to ever get past being mediocre. It's the same every week. It appears to me that only Parker, Thaiday, Hannant, Glenn and Gillett ever hit the ball up with any force.

Hannant and Mc are unlucky to miss out on the points. Probably if Mc had more game time he would have been my m.o.t.m

Hope Locky pulls up alright. The hamstring didn't sound too serious.

Our attack needs Hodgo to find his rhythm.......soon.

We were thwomped in every aspect of the game. Our attack was pedestrian and their attack was far too good for our defence. Disappointing, thought this season was building towards something, but the Storm showed how far we are off the pace.

One thing I will say, as frustrated as I am with the game I still feel the boys put in and as a fan that's what I like to see.

We were blown away by a better side who put together a near faultless half of football and some costly mistakes by Anderson and then Hoffman hurt us big time. It hurts but I'm yet to put a red line through the boys.

Then again, I'm not against making a few tweaks to the team either.

Agree, the effort was there but the execution was sadly lacking. Hodgo's butchered try cost us a great opprtunity to put them under pressure.

Melbourne's control of the ruck was just out of this world. I thought we matched them in this area for most of he first half, which was reflected in the half time score. Unfotunately we just couldn't sustain it and things blew out.

We were clearly outplayed by a better team. We had nothing at all in attack and couldnt score a point. (No way was the Yow Yeh try actually a try) Hodges was fairly average and bombed a try. Reed was crap and got rolled as if he was sandow. He's a better tackler than that. Im a Reed fan but that game was a shocker for him.

It's as if we dont practice any set plays from 10-20 metres out from the try line. When ever we are in that area no one seems to know whats going on and always our attack looks very flat with players standing still. We rely on kicks far too much.

Dont know how the storm get away with their ruck tatics. They hold players down far too long, and then for Thaiday to get penalised for his hand around the ball was utter BS.

Really not sure where this leaves us for the rest of the year. Vast improvment is needed if we are going to trouble Storm or Manly.

I disagree, Billy Slater was deemed to have control of the ball when he had one finger on it after he almost screwed up the play of the ball early in the match so its only fair that Yow Yeh scored that try.

As they said, the ball was on the ground and all that was needed was a broncos player to touch it with his arm or torso for it to be a try.

I agree that the scoreline didnt really represent the match, the main problem seemed to be a lack of attack from the Broncos, their defence wasnt that bad considering how good the Storm are.

yeah scoreline flattered the storm, as it did in round 9. um i didnt think we were that far off, but the attack was just so weak, forwards made the metres and the backs had nothing to add to it when it was needed. i think a few more weeks together post origin full strength again we'll find something.

Glenn was also good and Mc, what is hunt doing in the team. bring back baptiste or at least give Mc 80 minutes. hunt adds nothing

Please get rid of Hunt. My god he just brings nothing.

Hoffman needs to learn to run that play where they wrap around and he comes into the backline A LOT better. They ran is 4 or so times, everytime he passed far too early. He needs to take it to the line as that is what creates the overlap - run straight at the out center and draw the player.

As everyone said, scoreline didn't flatter us, we dropped the bundle in the last 10 which is a shame. That penalty broke our back.

Hannant, Thaiday, Parker, McCullough and gave 100%. Locky and Wal tried but just couldn't quite get it. Kicking was very good I thought. Dodds was f**king rubbish - that drop out return where he stopped, what the f**k? Anderson was ok apart from a big error. Hodges definitely still finding his feet. Horrible tackle attempt from Reed. To be fair, I think he lost his footing. Surely no one in their right mind would try and tackle low that close to the line...

Melbourne were a very professional unit and we weren't quite there. On the plus side, I think we can get there in the next 2 months.

3. Parker (66 tackles, 16 hit ups - fantastic effort)
2. Hannant
1. McCullough (47 tackles in 50 minutes and pretty sharp from dummy)
