So we''ll just stress out over it for two years eh? Another scenario could be Ivan coaching him at Rep level or even returning to Penrith. The Tigers have nothing to offer NC that we can't. He gets the coaching from Ivan at home anyway. As long as the club does what it can to try to retain him, it's his choice. It's hard to believe that the offer amount has been made public and anyway, it would just be a starting point in negotiations.

Of course we shouldn't stress now. I should have been clearer about that. Though I will admit I'm a bit concerned.

As to the part in bold: you really think so? They could offer him more money as we'll have to spread ours throughout the entire roster more then they will I think.

Nice article but it doesn't bode well for our long term prospects of keeping Nathan.

He also talks about being his own man. I'm not too concerned, I think the reality of a father & son dynamic will see cooler heads prevail. The pressure on the coach if his form dipped would be enormous.

I think despite Ivan not being super stoked about how Gus handled his departure, he is a reasonable guy and cares about his son first and foremost and knows he is in good hands at Penrith. He also would know the Tigers have some years ahead of them to put it together while Penrith is potentially on the eve of the dynasty that he built. If we get the offer right I don't think we have anything to worry about.

What do you mean they have nothing we can't offer, they have his dad. Not stressing just pointing out he is clearly talking about leaving one day.

The talk was all Ivan's, wasn't it?

""I definitely think down the track I'd be keen to do it," Nathan says. "I can't lock anything in. But you don't know what can happen in two years. I'm happy at the Panthers and when the time comes we can talk about what's next. I just have to get out there, be consistent and stay in first grade."

I just find it completely bizarre that he would be so open about it. I'd expect more of a: 'Yeah nah, I'm happy here at Penrith and we'll just have to wait and see what the future holds." That sorta thing.

As if you'd want to work under your dad in something as competitive as footy.

We are rolling up the field which is nice. They need to switch on though. The 2 obstructions are silly to give away.
