Round 23 v Knights

If we're serious we put Newcastle to the sword this game. How many times have we we seen the team try to walk it in against somewhat weaker opposition? How hasn't the team learnt that they can't expect to do this?

I have no doubt our team know exactly where they stand and will know only too well nothing short of a convincing win (20 points plus) is required. Having said that the Knights have not thrown the towel in and will be tough to beat.

Every game is a danger game and this one, away, is no different. Our record against the Knights is not great.

The Knights are having a horror season, but they're a much better team now than they were earlier in the year. They've matched it with the Storm and Dogs for decent stretches in the past month. They're low on talent but put in an honest shift. We should win but we'll need to earn this one. If we play like we did against the Titans or second Sharks game we may have issues.

They play to the best of their very limited ability every week, something we have struggled to do for 80mins let alone all year. Wont be as easy as most think.

Its the type of game that we usually struggle with, so was last week though so hopefully we can come out with the same intensity.

I'm not saying it will be an easy game or we will definitely win I'm saying we need to come in with the mindset that even if they don't put up much resistance we'we'll want to hammer home the win. Aim for a cricket score no matter how they turn up. Too often agaibst opposition we perceive as weak we barely turn up. If we're serious at this point in the season we turn up ready to bury them.

I fear for this game, the Knights are due a win (as mentioned above, they have had decent performances against some top 8 sides this season - wernt they up 22-0 against Canberra before being run down?) and us coming off the short turnaround - this will be a very tense game.

We are the type of team to put in a good performance one week and the next week we lose to the worst team in the comp.

personally, ill be happy if we get the 2 points this weekend.

I reckon we can really build from last week's win. We are prone for drop off performances but I'm still expecting a good show. Us by 16 I think

So what changes are we expecting? Obviously we copy/pasted the team due to having a Monday night game.

I Hope we drop Hardaker and put TMM on the bench. Im not convinced hes ready yet. But he couldn't really offer less than Hardaker has off the bench and this is the easiest game to test TMM out before the finals.

Also probably need a replacement for Akauolo. Might be our best/only chance to give Kikau a run in first grade this year.

Hardaker is just a waste on the bench, but came in handy when Blake got knocked the f**k out a game or so ago and when Moylan saw stars (maybe a master stroke actually). But he offers sweet FA being there IMO

TMM into the side,, Moylan hopefully passes fit, sounds like he will.

Even those injuries you mentioned would of been fairly easy to cover without Hardaker considering Yeo's ability to slide out to centre. If not TMM I think we should have Katoa on the bench or whoever the next hooker in line is, Wallace is a tough cookie but if he does get hurt who goes to 9? Also Expecting TMM to come back from a shoulder injury and defend in the middle of the field is not ideal, he has said himself he doesn't have confidence in the shoulder yet so playing hooker is probably not a good idea.

From Wackos whispers
Panthers expected to have 2 changes with Regan Campbell-Gillard (elbow) and Suaia Matagi (ankle) coming into 17 for Sitaleki Akauola and Mose Leotoa. Matt Moylan will play after failing to finish game last week due to blurred vision.

Will keep an eye on NSW cup about 2pm tomorrow for Team sheet for TMM.

Like ive said before, a back on the bench is insane and especially for a team with Peach,Carty and Yeo.

So you pick another forward.... and he sits on the bench for 80mins? It's a no lose situation putting a back on the bench IMO . I can see merit putting Katoa or a hooker on the bench in place of a back, but we have a pack of forwards that can go 80, there's no need or use for another forward.

Lets just give Hardacker some game time and see what he's got.
Even time in Intrust Cup is better than warming the bench in firsts !
