All the 1% stuff you talk about was always referred to as "unrewarded running".
No stats for it, no cheer from the crowd for it, but will always get a pat on the back for it in the dressing room.
Superstars, with all their brilliance, rarely display this type of effort stuff, but the Lindsay Smith type, solid team players, are just as important to the team as the superstar.
Let's just smile and enjoy this young man's remarkable improvement.
Last night, Corey Parker during the post match discussion was marvelling at how the team was full of no names. He mentioned Smith, Salmon and Hosking and was basically saying you look at the team list and go "so what", yet the players come on and do their jobs and you don't notice they have replaced a big name player. Impressive coaching and club culture. I thought Smith was outstanding starting against the Storm. He is set for a good career.
Chins is in here bagging Hosking, yet the Storm scored 1 try. Think about that. The Storm have Grant and Munster, two of the most destructive attacking players in the game and yet they were unable to exploit Hosking out in the centres. Furthermore, Hosking got two try assists, two line break assists and 3 tackle breaks.
Hosking is a third choice centre at best. Yet he held his own against one of the elite attacking teams. Hoskings and the coaching staff should take a bow.
Parker is right. There plenty of no name players in the team and yet they perform at an elite level. I remember when the Storm were like that. They take your cast offs and turn them into quality players.
The coaching staff at the Panthers are barely mentioned but they deserve massive praise.
