In all the discussion in this thread it kind of bothers me a little that nobody is talking about what happened after the Harry Dive.

We still had two possessions and two attempts that were charged down. Most egregious was after Casey got the ball again 30 or so metres out after the 1st charge down. We had a minute and 5 tackles to get that right in very good field position and we ended up being a completely disorganised mess.

Not one person here, on Twitter, Channel 9 or Fox Sports has even made a mention of it.

Nathan and Mitch totally screwed those sets - was very poor play from them. Also a big worry how predictable we are. Everyone KNOWS Nathan is taking the field goal as soon as he sets even slightly deep. Yes, he is great at taking them, but we have become over reliant on it and as Thursday Night proved - it can cost us.

I feel like we routinely botch those kinds of situations, especially when you consider we have one of the most clutch players of all time who also happens to be an extraordinary field goal kicker.

They lost their composure after the Leota penalty.

Anyway if we had to drop one before the finals i wouldve picked this one. Really want to beat Raiders and Dogs, dont want to give them the belief and confidence they might get from beating us. With Storm thats not really a concern. IF we play them again coming off two losses, we will beat them.

A few times a couple years back we would throw to the right out of dummy half, draw the charge down and then pass deep back to the left. It was a great play that is going to be really hard to defend. You need two believable field goal proponents though. Edwards or Talagi should be working hard to offer a decent option. The side needs to get the set up run right as well with a fast play the ball. I think we lose a lot without Yeo in the side for situations and plays like this.

I agree. Edwards does have 'runs on the board' in that regard and at this stage it probably should be him, given all his big game experience.

The problem there is that he usually takes one of the late hit ups. For instance, he was the dummy half for the disallowed field goal, so obviously well out of position.

Ideally Blaize should be able to kick them but he is still a rookie and we can't expect him to develop every facet of being a half to an Elite level in just a year.

I would absolutely love a trick field goal play with Yeo as the kicker. Imagine that to win a finals game?

The concern for me around this game was we were totally dominant until the poor Talagi flick on leading to the intercept try. We should have been in front and out of sight given our field position and possession but failed to convert our dominance on the score board. We really ought to have won this game comfortably given the play up until the intercept so to lose is a concern. Friday night will be equally tough against a Raiders side who are travelling really well even if you believe the draw has aided them.

I am inKliened to think there were other factors.

Had concerns about Storm but after this match I think the only team that can stop us is Penrith.
Won't have been lost on Ivan that the Storm's one and only attacking option for the vast majority of this game was the high kick to Coates' wing. They did get an intercept try and then some errors in the back end to get them into position to bomb away, and later into field goal position by which time the jig was well and truly up. The temptation to put more players on Coates and weaken elsewhere was resisted even though it worked in the GF.

I'll watch with interest whether the Storm persist with this against the Dogs.

Alamoti in for Tago would definitely help in the air but no one will want to hear that

Add paps and Hughes back in and they are a much more dangerous side..

A fit paps is very hard to contain and his speed on the edges would trouble us i have no doubt.

A fit paps is just something we no longer see, which blows because he is a gun.
