Based on that performance I wouldn't do much to the side.

I'd be swapping Milne for Goodwin and that's about it.

I was really impressed with Howell's game last night. Safe under the high ball and was sniffing around the park.

I know nowadays there is a push for a more 'attacking' style fullback. But with the raiders we need somebody solid at the back. Somebody who can tackle strong and attack the high ball.

Based on his form last night. Zillman should be getting nervous. Schiffer was solid at the back and saved a lot of points for us. Probably saved more than he scored. Howell is in that kind of mould.

There lies the problem. I think Zillman is first grade material in our side but I have always been a worried about his size at the back. His defense is OK at best and his height sometimes doesn't give him a good crack at the high ball. I know, people will say 'what about matty bowen?' but Zillman is no matty bowen yet. Hell, Matt Bowen is a dead set freak.

There is no doubt his is a crafty runner and very dangerous when he gets the ball in his hands. He is a potent attacking weapon.

For mine... I'm still not sure where to put him? I'd actually consider him at 14... to come on when a few of the forwards are running on tired legs.

I queried in another thread how Zillman would go at hooker, his speed and hands would make him leathal there. But maybe that is a position he could play off the bench towards the end of each half. On the other hand he is a great player and if we only use him off the bench we risk losing him to a club where he will get a start.

Howel did nothing special. He made a few catches under no pressure and did a good pass to Phil who setup a try. It is Zillmans position end of.

Howell is backup, no more. Are you forgeting the countless mistakes he has made in the past while playing on the wing?

So if you peel an onion and it takes you 5 or 6 layers before you get to the good part, are you going to stop there and say, enough is enough and just throw the onion away?

depends if you have bigger and better onions to use instead... if you dont then by all means, use the pissant little onion that cause you so many tears, but if you got a couple of onions stowed away for use next time, then id be inclinde to throw the troublesome onion in the bin, onion is a great additive to meals imo

as for david howell, i have no opinion on him ;-)

I am ready to flick Withers and Weyman

In the Doggies game in the first half when Withers came on for Hinchcliffe i believe we lost a lot in attack. His delivery from hooker as been well below par and he has alot of brain explosions.

I think Weyman is way to slow and not mobile enough to be a quality first grader.

I think Weyman would have been a great player had he played the game 10 years ago. The speed of todays game really doesn't suit his style.

I still think he has a lot to offer though if he gets his confidence up and remains injury free for a long period.

I thought there were signs on Saturday night he is getting back to his best.

You mean sorta like Shayne Webke?

Weyman has got what it takes and I've seen him rip the opposition apart when he is on his game - carrying 4 defenders on his back for metres. When he is focussed and agressive he is a great impact player. The ability is there, he just needs to do it consistently IMO and work on his offloading.

People forget he is a 23 year old prop and has still played less than 50 first grade games (just because he looks 40). We haven't seen anywhere near the best of Weyman, nor should we have expected it this early in his career.
