With the Eels result last night, the outcome of tonight doesn't mean much in the grand scheme, unless there is a flogging by either team.

Ideally, Souths win tonight to rain on the homecoming parade for a bit of a brag. But a loss doesn't end the campaign.

What happens next week is more important.

EXACTLY!!!
Its NEXT game which counts triple.
Accordingly I would have rested almost the entire line-up, as Barry Cleary has done.
At least sit Murray, Mitchell, Tom B, Alex J, Keaon K, Arrow and Walker on top of Graham and Cook.
What is the point of even worrying about this game given that we play them again next week?? Let them have an easy win here Merry Xmas Easts... then harpoon them next week!!

A week's bragging rights should NOT be the club's focus.
Its all down to NEXT week, that is where all the looks should be. Rest as many starters as possible here, that should be the policy. We all saw what impact that had one year ago agaonst the Cleary Gang.

While I am disappointed we didn't get the result, I'm not super upset and throwing my toys out of the cot like I normally would. It hurts to lose to the scum, really does and I didn't like watching that, however, in the end, I'm actually quite proud of that game and I think we can take plenty away from it heading into next week.

I will say that the first half was poor. We just weren't there physically. No line speed whatsoever (when it's been so good the past few weeks) and we just got bashed up the middle. As a result, our defence kind of folded and we conceded a few very soft tries which is super disappointing. It was weak and not good enough but thankfully, we were able to keep it to a respectable score.

However, I'm quite proud of that second half. From about the 50th minute, we really turned the tables and got on top of them to score a couple of tries and get ourselves back in that game. That was a strong fightback while still not really showing a lot in terms of shape and attacking flare. But we just didn't go up and didn't go away.

Now, I think there's some huge positives to take out of that. I may be clutching at straws here, time will tell, but I feel that that performance was tactical. We didn't use our left side AT ALL. Like, it was pretty much ignored. I think we went down there with shape three, maybe four times the whole game. There were so many times we were set up canter-field to go left, Trell and Cody were out there, but we went right to Lachie and Keaon instead. This happened so many times, too many times for it to be a coincidence. Normally, I'd be blowing up about not playing to our strengths, but I don't mind in this case. It was tactical, it has to be tactical because it was just so much different to the way we normally attack. It was almost as if we put the left side attack away and are saving it for next week. We clearly didn't want to give them a look and I think that's smart, hopefully.

It explains a lot in that performance too because it shows our mindset about this game. The club obviously understands that next week is more important so backed it off. By not going left like usual, we weren't doing everything we could to win so it shows a clear mindset about that game. It showed in other areas of our game too because generally, it didn't look like we got out of second gear and the line speed was way off. All the more reasons why I think this could have been a tactical performance, well, I hope so anyway.

Because of this, I take a lot of confidence. No Murray, Cook or Graham either yet still only went down by 10.

Next week is what matters.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I watched the game and thought. The roosters have shown everything they have in the first 40. We were down Murray after 20 seconds and a very light bench with 2 hookers on it. Paulo was a turnstile in the first half and the roosters targeted Ilias/Paulo combo. This will change when Graham comes back, one of the games best defensive centres. Manu should be out, which is a massive loss for them.
Cook back after a 2 week fresh up, should be raring to go. Letting Havili go
Back to the forward role. Maybe Moale or Fifita onto the bench. Let’s hope Murray can play, but not hopeful and no suspension for Sele.

I think our tactic was to give little away. I am pretty confident for next week.
Let the roosters win the first battle, let’s win the war!!!

We lost the battle early but losing Murray the game was over he plays next week we win without him it’s a tall order. Still our kicking game remains pretty bad it hasn’t improved all year we didn’t get enough depth on our kicks. The Rorters got out of their end far too easily.

Also our line speed must be much better and we must stand offside. Overall we need to show much more energy.

Keaon and Ilias both were pretty bad last night very soft in defence and the Rorters will go there again next week. Losing Murray early ruined our whole attack and showed how much we rely upon him.

Face the fact that your team was outclassed by an understrength Roosters, next week will be even better when we knock souths the pretenders out.

Ilias was not the problem. His defence overall is excellent. He was continually let down and left isolated by the centre and winger. We will win nothing with that centre/wing combo. Milnes best game try wise but still a defencive liability. His reads in defence are often way wrong. His one big hit was ok but more often than not he misses those. Two small men on the bench was never going to be a good idea Mamouzelos was excellent. I feel Cartwright if fit has to be in there somewhere. I also think we can play so much better and the roosters were very good,,, not sure they have any more upside. We improve our defence and somehow capatilise on the 5 man tackles and Latrell and we got them easy.
