It was a joke when Latimore got penalised
It is a even bigger joke he got reported
It is a much bigger joke he got banned for two matches

That Latimore decision is an utter disgrace. The guy hit the deck in a seated position and Latimore did nothing to put him in that position. Ridiculous.
It makes me think. Have we gotten through a game without an injury since the round 14 Dragons game?

Latimore very hard done by. I couldn't even find a reason for the penalty never mind a 2 week suspension. At least Docker got off ( his offence was much worse than Latimores IMHO).

I can't see us getting very far in the final with so many troops missing.

In the DT yesterday in noted that the Roosters are missing only 1 first granger thru injury FMD.

I think a swamp is good news for us. I still can't see us winning but it should at least ensure our NSW Cup team can keep them honest most of the game.

We should literally send put our NSW Cup team. Might be our only hope at getting through a weekend without losing our first choice players. Or the best 17 available anyway. We seem to be a player or more weaker every week for the past couple of months.

Neither of them was much really. The Docker tackle brushed the Storm player's chin, that's all. Only just a penalty and that's all. Latimore could not have avoided the situation and did his best to pull out. This I think is why the club challenged the charge, but 2 weeks for what was nothing really is utterly ridiculous. Mind you we did benefit from an equally dodgy suspension of Tariq Sims a couple of weeks ago.

Sanity needs to prevail with these crusher tackles. If there's a summit at the end of the season this really should be raised.

People suggesting we give up on this game and concentrate on the Warriors should understand that if we lose both games we most likely travel to Townsville for a knockout final, whereas win one and we play in Sydney with a second chance. We have to try to win every game. And finally, I'll be very surprised indeed if Segeyaro isn't on the field on Sunday, given the situation we are in with troops.

Biting my tounge re: latimore so much I think it fell off.

I will say he is missing just one less game than admitted drug cheats and Reynolds after his brainsnap.

The system of getting extra weeks when unsuccessfully challenging charges is not in the interests of natural justice. I know they do it in criminal law but the maximum discount is 25% not 50% and even so all relevant matters are considered when sentencing, where what we have here are arbitrary penalties. Someone is going to take the NRL to the civil courts one of these days over a suspension.

I'd also like to know what it was that made Latimore's offence grade 2 rather than grade 1. They don't tell the game's audience these things but in the interests of transparency they should.

Agreed, Frog. I bet if you go through and look at the video of all games over the weekend you will find half a dozen similar tackles that a penalty was not even given for. In Latimore's case you could see Cameron Smith telling the ref and Norrie that it was a crusher and to stay down. If it wasn't a smart player like Smith at dummy half, then it doesn't get a penalty let alone two week suspension.

We can be really thankful that we have a playing group that seem to have a bit between the ears. We very rarely have a bloke suspended and have no Josh Reynolds types who are on first name terms with the staff at the judiciary.
Its something that I think Gus and Ivan deserve big props for. We used to be a nightmare to watch with all the idiotic penalties, mistakes and missed tackles. Now we complain about a sloppy performance in a game we lost by 2 tries against Melbourne, with 10 players out, in the wet and we completed at 79%. Two years ago that would have been a dream performance.

Also NRL Late Mail has Segeyaro returning. Not sure if its based on anything or just the fact that Kingston is out. If he does I hope its because he's ready.

Very true. Expectations are being raised across the board.

Last night Brisbane were penalised for a crusher tackle that looked worse than Latimore's. Nobody was placed on report. Bloody ridiculous!

Totally agree with the above. I don't think we need to hit the panic button either. Melbourne worked the rucks as they always do. I was a bit concerned at times, we didn't have enough players in motion especially attacking their line. McKendry and Plum bounced back to some form, and if they carry that form into the Manly game, along with improved performances from Moylan and Docker, we can give Manly a real run for their money.

I don't know if this is best place to post this , but I am getting annoyed when people (media and so called experts) never mention Penrith as minor premiership chance. There are 2 games to go and we are in calculation, even though I think it will be hard . It is like we are ghost's in the 8. I am getting used to it but it is seriously pisssing me off and I would swear but there are probably kids on this site. I hope we go on for the efforts of the boys this year under extreme adversity but even more to make the doubters eat there words.

Alright let's see how much this Parra bloke gets for a proper crusher. Needs to be minimum 3 weeks or the judiciary is a flock of pelicans.

The Panthers have officially taken the NSW Cup minor premiership home in style, capping off a brilliant season with a 44-12 win over Wentworthville at Sportingbet Stadium today.

Despite having a depleted side due to first grade injury call ups, Garth Brennan’s men produced a classy performance and were brilliant in defence throughout, and will head into next week’s semi-final with a boost of confidence.

The Magpies just couldn’t find their feet today and struggled to keep up with Penrith’s quick ball work and fast legs. We got off to a cracking start and scored their first try off their first set, in the second minute of the match, when Eto Nabuli was handed the ball from 15m out and he dodged a couple of Wentworthville defenders and dived over the line! Wes Naiqama’s kick was waved away, so the home side took a 4-0 lead.

The Magpies hit back in the 9th minute after being awarded a penalty inside the 10m line. They sent the ball from the left of the field to the centre, and big Lionel O’Mally barged his way over the line right next to the uprights. The kick from in front went straight through the uprights, giving them a 6-4 lead.

Five minutes later the Panthers were in again after Lani Latu broke through the Wenty backline and stormed off down the field from 40m out before passing to Kieran Moss, who took the ball the rest of the way. Naiqama’s kick was on target this time, putting Penrith in front 10-6.

We crossed for our third try a few minutes later when Kevin Naiqama found some space over the left side of the field, ran through the Magpies defence and jogged the ball in behind the posts. Brother Wes converted to extend the Panthers lead to 16-6.

With 8 minutes until the half time break, Kieran Moss crossed for his second try of the day after collecting a beautiful cut out pass from Kev Naiqama, who had broken through a tackle and sprinted down the sideline to get us within 20m. Wes’s kick put the home side in front 22-6.

HALF TIME: 22-6 Panthers

Penrith was first to put points on the board nine minutes into this half when Tom Humble took full advantage of the new quick-tap rule and left Wentworthville completely behind the 8-ball, taking off down the field from the 20m line and sprinting the full 80m to get the ball under the posts. The kick took the score to 28-6

A few minutes later we were in again after a great pass put Moss into some space and he bolted through the Magpies backline before passing to Liam Ayoub who ran the last 30m to score. Naiqama’s kick extended our lead even further to 34-6.

Our third unanswered try this half came in the 57th minute when Sakeo Dibeci collected a great ball on the sideline and sprinted 10m to dive over just inside the corner post. The kick was waved away, so the score went to 38-6.

Some quick thinking from Wes Naiqama then put him over for our next four-pointer. Humble made a break near the halfway line and ran towards our line before facing some pressure from the Magpies, so he put a chip kick in which bounced in some open space. Wes ran in and dodged a defender while collecting the ball, and then he dived over the line! He then booted the very tricky sideline conversion to put the Panthers ahead 44-6, with 18 minutes on the clock.

With less than three minutes remaining, the Magpies managed to get over the line for their second try, after being awarded a penalty on the 10m line. They sent the ball from one side of the field to the other, before winger Cecil Mckenzie found enough room to run a few metres up the sideline and get the ball down. The kick was on target, taking the score to 44-12.

FULL TIME: 44-12 Panthers

Wow! I thought for sure we would lose this game. Garth Brennan is a genius coach. He must surely get a gig in first grade at some point.
