Miller will have to play even better, young Brooks in the U20s had the game on a string for 80 minutes, was a class above the field. As I have said looks like Johns plays like Johns

I commented on Millers defence he was good in the first half but when parramatta got more ball and targeted him he got caught out badly a number of times. He was defending in the centres. This is a bad move, sandows defensive performance was the same. Halves have no
Place defending outwide it is IMO the most difficult position to defend in terms of decision making, so if you're inexperienced, small and constantly called on to make decisions in defence you have the same problems as miller last night. Still he justified his position last night. His touches were dependable without being spectacular but his involvement was way up on what it had been. Farah was outstanding again. Still too many missed tackles . The result hides the fact that we came pretty close to losing , two parramatta mistakes over the line, the moltzen try and benji try made a four try difference. Our attack was still pretty ordinary in the opps red zone. We dont seem to have the players into in motion which I believe is the key to wests attack. We are not gonna cut it against Melbourne, the dogs and nqld. The Sea Eagles will be hard next week. Hopefully the boys keep going forward

Last nights game vindicated my defence of Lawrence, Ayshford & Miller.

Lawrence was running onto the ball & at gaps with pace. Ayshford stopped second guessing & backed himself and Miller has been getting better every week.

The better he gets, the better our backs will perform.

Blair had his best game for us by a long way.

Fulton's timing in defence is back, as his initial contact in defence is sticking.

Anasta even has become quite a good cover defender & a useful link man close to the line.

Defence is still sketchy.

Brooks is going to be something special, I wouldn't be surprised to see him pushing for a first grade spot as early as late this year or early next year.

Moltzen had a top game as well, seems to have a lot more confidence this year.

I'm happy with Miller and Brooks performing. We can keep both. This only means we have options as Benji gets older. Hell Benji might want to play for the All Blacks at a World Cup and we can save money off our salary cap.

The big worry to come out of last nights game was the second half fade.Overall we had around 65% of the ball but in the last 20 minutes you would have thought we had made 100 more tackles than Parra. Their was no zip, purpose, they were in quick sand.

Its not fitness, its a case of size and lack of horse power. While most teams are still trying to get match fitness to the required level it probably will not bite us,but in a months time we are in for big trouble if we do not gets some real power into the team and go forward

I think Ava when given some time to warm in will provide that SC. Thought he should have been blooded last year but glad he gets a shot now.

Pettybourne got burnt up tackling in his first stint and never recovered. BMM was useless last night. Conditions were oppresive but no excuse.

I believe we are better served replacing Anasta with BMM only.

Also Blair or Bell should be on the field at all times.

Most impressed last night with Blair. He stepped up his own game but he really seemed to push the young players in the pack to step up. Really stood out to me

I thought Blair was okay too, although I thought he stopped approaching the defensive line a few times which is disappointing, he really needs to get the legs pumping and take it to his opponents. As has been noted Moltzen again although reasonably sound would not attempt to return kicks, everytime he was in a position to have a crack at a kick return he went for a winger (some might say this is good when koro winds up) but part of his role is kick returns he can't rely on other players all the time
, he has to stand up. Was brave on the grubber though and fair to good under the high ones

I thought Fulton was the best for the Tigers but then again, he does stand out with the top he has :)

Miller, improving all the time.

Benji's kicking in general play still needs improvement, can Miller kick at all?

Forwards all of them were strong but just working out who goes on when is always the issue.

Can anyone who was at the game inform the ones who were not, is there any crowd reaction to Moltzen taking kicks and simply off loading to his wingers? They are always getting back to help him so assume coach knows he is a problem.

For me the best thing he did last night was dive onto a loose ball on try line. He has been lucky in the past two games that the opposition bombs and chasing game have not been that good.

It hasn't been mentioned, but Woods is being used well by Potter.

Sheens last year wore Woods out by overplaying him. Potter only played Woods for 43 minutes or so, yet his workload was phenomenal. Have a look at the metres and hit ups.

I much rather that impact and effective use of Woods. Buchanen stats are great too. Having Anasta and Fulton play 80 minutes actually enables this as the forwards are only rotating three positions.

The bench forwards went ok. Ava will keep getting better, Bell is a very solid prop off the bench and I am liking Pettyborne. BMM may need time in the lower grades though. This would give Thompson a chance (which would give a little flexibility if a back goes down as Thompson can go to centre).

I assume Simona was playing centre? I can't see Ayshford or Lawrence being dropped.
