The fact we either don’t spend enough or these better players are rejecting us is a real issue. And one we have had since Wayne came and bought some guns.
Shame the management at Saints can’t grasp this.
It’s like the definition of insanity.
Keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

It's interesting the way people are talking about contracts from~2027 onwards too.. post broadcast deal.. the numbers expected by players/managers could go substantially up.... tbh I dont even know how we could be spending all of our cap as it is..

We have a real problem with go foward. Other teams know it and choke us. We really struggle to get momentum through the middle.

One option i think we should try is i remember when Manly were playing in 2021, they had a really good backline and rubbish fowards, similar situation to us at the moment. They would spread it wide in their own end to nullify the other team moving up on them. From memory that year they finished 4th and had a great season.

I think we should adapt a similar style of game play given our foward weaknesses at the moment. Otherwise we are just bashing against a defensive wall with no give and getting choked out of games.

Whole heartedly agree, sammy. It’s been like this for over a decade. As it’s been mentioned on this forum ad nauseam, five hit ups and a kick. It’s just so ingrained now. Our small forwards just get bashed. The dogs just hammered us in R1. But as soon as we got behind and time was running out the ball went wide and we scored on the dogs edge.

Why we don’t do this more often is beyond me.

If Saints can work Harry Grant over then they have a chance. The guy is a grub bit I noticed in the GF the Panthers just kept running at him and smashing the guy and he was tanked by the 60min mark. Panthers are good at that, they target the best players not the weaker ones.

I am sure we all felt the same last year when Saints were up against the Storm and we ended up witnessing the best Saints performance of the season. Let up hop this is one of them for 2025 with a tough win.

If Flanno thinks we can win playing a power game then he has lost the plot ....... The game has changed it's so much faster your forwards need to be faster athletic, get to the advantage line , quick play the balls ........ Everything we are not .........

Pretty sure they copied Flanno on that one.

2016 GF Sharks made Cameron Smith Make 73 tackles. Heard him talk about it on a podcast saying he knew what was happening to him, he just couldn't do anything about it. First time he felt like he was not in control

Not all NRL coaches are good recruitment officers, which is the case at the Dragons. I've got no idea why the Board won't sack the ineffective staff of the Dragon's football Department. department that have proven to be ineffective Given that staff salaries do not come under the salary cap, it is a crime these people are not sacked and replaced with people who have a track record of success.

Flanno needs a recruitment manager, recruitment staff, and a good GM of Football. To have any success, the Board should act now.

I say it will probably be Allen and that is ok. However, I feel Lawson is at a minimum as good as Nagatwaise from the chooks. Especially athletically. Mark Nagatwaise was thrown in to sink or swim and he has played extremely well.

Dont think Allan has the fitness yet, only playe 1 game in 15months.. maybe.. but Feagai is the most straight forward option, unless he wants to blood Lawson early.. hes growing but hes had 2 games at centre in his life. Buchanan cant be selected yet, even if they wanted to pick him.

Honestly I dont rly care.. whoever feels better at training, and hopefully it wont even be needed if Suli is fit.. 2 weeks might be enough recovery... dont think Flanno will let anyone know whos playing until he has too.
