Round 4 v Storm

Two close losses has taught the team that they need to be 'on' for 80 minutes. Win or lose, this week will be their best game so far.

I think that’s right.

And between the lines, the expectation will be that they follow Flannos game plan which they veered away from previously and that’s why I think he was beyond furious.

They failed to close the game out and invited South’s back in.

If they can’t to it physically, that’s an explanation of sorts, but when it’s just basic lack of focus and ignoring instructions, there’s no excuses so fas as Flanno is concerned.

He’s designed a plan to keep up with and rattle the storm, they have to execute it or die trying. A couple of them won’t get another chance anytime soon if they go off on a frolic of their own.

And anymore cushy try’s on the line, he won’t accept that. Might be time to hook players if that’s the order of the day.

Another way of seeing it is that if you can match and beat the storm, that will answer a lot of questions and right a lot of wrongs that are swirling about.

They’d be feeling a bit complacent now and hard to motivate.

Hughes being out is a big loss and I’d be pressuring their halves all game.

Belt them.

That should be the number one task for our back row;
Leilua
Su'A
De Belin
Egan
Have a system to share it around so they don't get fatigued.

Yeah, if they get too much time, that’s when their options will open up.

It’s probably just me, but I am not exactly excited when I peruse their backline.

Hopefully Sloan and Suli will be at optimum.

Someone told me a lot of their factory were on poverty wages and the salary imbalance was profound than other clubs.

Glad that Stefano is sucking them dry.

Well ladies and gents here we go another season and we are under pressure early. Take a loss here and it will be 0-3 plus all home games lost, which goes against our plans to make a good start to the season, plus the disappointment of the fans, which will be fickle if we get well and truly pumped by the STORM.
The weather will be terrible on Saturday, I dont know if that works in our favour or not, I can remember a few games last year where we were pretty shaky to say the least.
All I can say here is we need a win, cant think of a better time to perform, if not, in my mind there is no coming back from this start and the players we have will be mentally shafted.
I'm hoping for a win but being a long suffering Dragons fan I have learnt not to be too emotional if we dont, just accept the numbness that goes with the reality of supporting the Dragons. Go the Dragons ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Yay !!!

Until our management increase our corporate support by making allegiances with the big end of town who can provide heaps of TPAs we will never compete for premierships. We will struggle to sign the marquees who will ALWAYS go to the clubs that can offer them "Shares in Pubs". Look at the clubs that have won or made Grand Finals in the last 10 years. Storm, Panthers, Broncs, Souths, Roosters, Parra. These are all clubs that have lots of Corporate support. Teams finishing higher on the ladder.....Sharks, Bulldogs, also. TPAs are the most important factor required to build champion teams. They are also the BIGGEST blight on the game. Until we compete at the corporate level, we are absolutely NO THREAT.

I do agree with you, but you need to remember that the Panthers built their club from within with their juniors. Their junior management has and still is impeccable where ours was deplorable. Things are changing a bit now, still a long way to go and the COE will help.

Can anyone shed light on why we haven't been successful in what you put forward. Red V still a strong commercial brand; never understood why other clubs are trumping us in this area...?

Our board haven't done the work to foster these relationships and the Gordon's don't care. I think Lancaster is changing this to a certain extent. When we have had the opportunity to have the Paul Smith's (Sydney Kings) of the world involved, our board told them to bugger off and gave the Lion's share to the Gordon's, who've done fxckall since. The corporate side needs to be built and our useless, lazy, good for nothings are not good at this. It is no coincidence that since the Gordon's came on board, we have dished up the worst era in the history of the St George Dragons and /or St George Illawarra Dragons.

Don't let the narrative of the Panther's juniors fool you. Yes, they do juniors better than anyone, but, they also do corporate land very well. You cannot succeed without TPAs. As we are finding, juniors chase the money also and if there are TPAs to assist, you are less likely to lose the Latu's (I know he hasn't left yet), Bostocks, etc. Money talks.
