Agree with your comments re the backline thebigredv . The one moment (out of many) that disappointed me most was when Val was put into the clear at speed, with the fullback to beat and no one close enough to support him. As Lord Ted did many times in his career (and other champion backs) the choices are 1. beat the fullback with swerve or step 2. kick and chase. Val chose neither and slowed up to wait for the well-marked support to arrive. And then threw a forward pass. A try at that stage was so important.
