I’d prefer Cole to not be in the side at all. He tries hard and I can’t fault his effort but he’s just not up to the task. Watch the games without commentary where the likes of Ennis are edging over his performance and tell me he is actually killing it. The only thing he is killing is our attack on the edges.

Bring in one of the McLean boys to centre or wing (in which case you move Alamoti to centre). Nothing against Jenkins but both McLeans are better and by some distance.

And for all his shortcomings, Schneider claimed that back up halves spot. If we are not prepared to start Talagi, he needs to be the other half to partner Nathan.

I don't think the people criticising Cole are really watching the game. He has 5 games in the halves in the NRL and has played with a different halfback week to week and very often half to half. Then his edge has changed every game this year also from McLean/Garner to To'o/McLean to To'o/Jenkins. How much are you really expecting from a rookie five eighth with a complete rotating cast of makeshift and NSW Cup halfbacks running the team and a rotating cast of edge forwards, centre and wingers surrounding him? I hate to think what you're expecting from another rookie five eighth in the same circumstances. This team's problems aren't stemming from Cole. Sure he might not be throwing the team on his back and dominating the game but that's a ridiculous expectation.

The team needs to get some consistency in personnel on the edges, they need to hold the ball, figure out where the line is with the refs (it has changed quite a bit this year) and get games into a grind. That's the foundation of our entire game and what our halves play off but we haven't been in a grind all year.

Leota needs some sort of punishment for his effort. Bench about best we can do. Tago needs punishment also. But with Edwards and Bizza out we can’t really afford to either.

We need something different at fullback. It has been costing us massively. Talagi hopefully offers more than Laurie did. We truly need Edwards back. We have given away so many sets on our line with incompetent work in our back 3. Mostly at fullback but our wings have been pretty average too.
