Looking at some key stats from the past of former Dragon players played against us for first time. Frizell from the Knights lost his first game against us is one. However Jayden Sullivan has won against us representing Tigers.

Would either Lomax win or not. But we have Gutho which is more consistent and plays in right position. Gutho could win this case.

This game will be a test for us...
Gutho, who lost blood for the Eels...
Us we went to Parramatta last year cocky, and got our arses' hand to us.
and Parra with several St. George assets within will come out swinging with a point to prove on several fronts.
This game will not be a cake-walk in any way.
A one point win for St. George Illawarra will be a satisfactory result indeed

With LPT, Flanagan said in pre-season that he would only play him when he's ready to handle the big hits that will come his way. He said when a kid the size of LPT debuts every NRL forward will be trying to dominate him, he'll receive a lot of attention and not in a good way. He'll have a target on his back. He has to make sure that LPT is ready for that otherwise it could set his development back. The only way to know for sure is an extended run in Cup.

Everything Flanagan said made sense to me and the way he's handled the introduction of the Couchman boys (playing them in trials last year then sending them back to Cup for a spell), Stewart and Egan has been very good. He won't play them because the fans think they're ready, or because the players or their families or agents think they're ready. He'll play them when he thinks they're ready. This tells me he's thinking long term for the welfare of the players and the club. It might piss off a few (Like the recent Latu rumours) but will be worth it in the long run.

I agreed with this totally. It all about mentality in the game, not the physical side. The welfare of young players are crucial. A slow introduction is the key to maintain their health and sense of pride. Look at Egan, it worked really well. Oh man that hitup in late 2nd half against the Storm shows this!

No need to rush him. He just turned 19.

Look what the full year in Cup at 19 has done for Stewart and Egan. Seasoning the Couchies in Cup year before that.

It’s a process. Injury permitting, Latu, Loko and Jake are all where Stewart and Egan are now, this time next year it’s a full season of open age football behind them and another pre season. I’m certain they could play now and compete, but picking up Klemmer has allowed us to not have to throw the boys in when it might be just a touch too early.

Latu is a gun though. He’d handle it.
Just read somewhere, there was talk of him going elsewhere????
Could it be the lure of playing NRL be the insentive???
