Round 6 versus Bulldogs

He had the odd good moment. I thought he'd come good after a halftime talk with Dad. Apparently not.

I'd lean on this and also the fact its his 200th game. Nathan thought he had to be the man when all he needed to do was to be Nathan Cleary...be yourself mate.

I should really be Nathan's Dad now that I think about it. I could impart knowledge on someone else's son once per week easily.

It was his worst game in memory. Yeo too..

The only positive is they wont ever pkay that bad in the same gane together again

The Dogs were poor, we were just f**king awful

Very harsh on the Dogs.

They came to play. Plenty of enthusiasm. Best game in Bulldogs colours for Galvin. I thought it was Kikau's best game for a while too. Their middle had a go. In terms of effort they outplayed Penrith.

Had plenty of errors too. Far from a Penrith 10/10 performance but the Dogs put in their best shot.

I'll say it. This win has Gus' fingerprints on it.

Fair enough.

But ask yourself if you've got the balls to bench Kenny (A noted defender who plays middle, part of the original problem) to put on Lussick as a last ditch effort to score points. Maybe the service does improve but park that up against another set of hands in the line through Cogger. I know which one I'm choosing.

Its not an awful decision to play Lussick but I don't see how its priority one. At that point in the game just put another guy out there to play football and get the ball moving.

I think its a better argument to call Tago an x-factor and play him to break the deadlock. But his form earlier this year tells me he isn't going to do that. So back to square one with Cogger.

This isn't one of those things thats objectively correct/incorrect i just thought Kenny was poor tonight which hurt.

Probably not. This is quite rare.

Clearly played game 200. Not sure how he handles milestone matches overall. He was right off the boil.

Yeo wasn't too flash last week either. Two weeks in a row for him is kind of weird. Maybe something up?

Also everyone needs to remember, it's round 6 and the refs love blowing the whistle this time of year (especially Klein and Sutton).
Come finals time, there won't be that many penalties and 6 agains.
Dogs had way too many leg ups tonight which suited them and they won't get that by the end of the year.

Not objective no but that is why I am happy backing Ivan here. There really isn't a strong case to put anyone on the bench on before Cogger in the final part of the match.

I feel like Kenny struggles when the other senior members struggle. He isn't the head of the chicken just part of the body.

Freddy's kicking from dummy half could have easily turned the game. Kenny simply has very few strings to his bow.

This is a point worth discussing.

What was Cleary doing with those two 10m kicks on the last in the second half? @Girds89 to stop Tracey's kick return metres?

At this point in the game we needed to score or create points. Both kicks didn't seem to be doing that. Both kicks came off as confused from Nathan. No real chase on the ball from what I remember.

Cleary in previous years hoists it up and we keep them on the 10m line. Not tonight.
Dogs gave him no space all night.
The same thing happens in origin.
All other games this season so far Cleary's had all the time in the world to kick.

Still harsh Umina. It was good Rugby League.

I know those second half errors were bad. But they happened because two decent teams were having a hit out. Its technically a heavy-weight hit out even if the Dogs have been crap so far this year.

In the dogfight 50 minutes in both teams were feeling it. Errors made and neither team took advantage really. Just a slight edge to the Dogs in the end and that was game.

Hopefully that was our 1 bad game for the season, kennys service was so slow from dummy half.Yeo looked his age.T'oo went missing, talagi got caught out by preston tonight 2 bad missed tackles. And we wont see jenkins drop 5 balls again all season.Dogs were up for it and under pressure all week. They wanted it more muscled up and there line speed was too much pressure for us.We dont need many changes if henry is fit bring him in and we need to rotate lussick with kenny after 20 mins.

With the game on the line you turn to Freddy Lussick to kick us out of trouble?

Deadset 1 week ago neither you or I even knew that bloke could kick. And Nathan Cleary was playing tonight...we don't need to bring on someone to kick to the ball do we?
