Round 6 vs Sharks

OK great win , love how we are going but the elephant in the room ??? Aitkins defence ( as well as he is playing this will keep him out of origin ) and Nightingale's speed. Getting caught in the in goal and going nowhere near the try line when 15 metres out will hurt in close games.

AND when talking about depth Mary mentioned abour 4 or 5 players to night on C H 9 and not Host once ? Freudian slip ?
Nah just keeping him under the radar till origin time:wink::thumbsup_tone1:

From all reports, Host is down Mary’s list. Save for monstrous injury/Origin toll, I doubt he’ll see first grade this year. Shame, he’s damn talented.

He was 18th man this week... and only second rower on the extended bench.

If Sims is out next week, Host goes straight in.

I believe that the only thing that I was right about in this game was that the best pack would come out on top . I mean they did just that , the Dragons took no prisoners, one only need look at the injuries sustained by the,Sharks big men Gallen - Fifita and Lewis .

Our ' soft underbelly ' tag has gone and has been replaced by a unrelenting red and white battering ram , with some very quick ' speed - speed - speed ' man , simply wonderful .

Good to get the win with some imaginative football being played but still some serious work to be done in defence and whilst we all love the new found freedom we play with we need to control the rushes of blood and very loose passes we sometimes throw.
We are still getting exposed out wide and the Storm wingers started to find form tonight so we need to be better / more disciplined when we play them.
Great to be winning games which we would have lost in the last few years but the drop in intensity during the last 2 games is noticeable and needs to serve as a warning shot across our bow.
Next week should be a cracker of a game and will no doubt be a very bruising affair as the Warriors are certainly a very physical side as well.
Hopefully we keep our nerve and continue on attacking from both sides of the paddock.

Thought we were good early on then the sin bin,
Happy at ht
Thought we shoudnt lose from here..
Stormed early in the second half.
Then a lapse as sharks were on a roll.
Lucky when holmes touched it.
Once jack scored it was safe.
We looked a bit iffy on aitken side, irrespective of who came off .
Its a good win, sharks were brave but does it matter.
And whoever put the Anzac day 5 days after a trip to NZ is kidding.
PS Moylan was Good for us.:grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning:
Maybe all true but I would rather win
40 to 20 than 20 to 0, happy to achieve attacking excellence and defensive good

Even happy to win 60 ~ 30

Truthfully, we got lucky with their injuries & Moylan deciding to play like Mitchell Moses. We did what we had to do, adapted to the situation & put them to the sword. It’s not always going to be like that but you play what’s in front of you. We are still improving.

The thing is LG that teams we beat will always appear to have an excuse

If we got beat 40/20 Mary would be hung dried and quartered.

We didn’t get lucky, we forced it upon them.

Tremendous performance and the scoreline was not what I had expected , but how sweet it is ! As already pointed out , there were some periods where we seem to nod off but thankfully had enough in us to continue on with the job .

Great result for the boys and also the supporters who have suffered dismally over the last few seasons . But not in 2018 , there is indeed a new found work ethic in the Dragons and that coupled with the enthusiasm of all the players leaves the semis no longer a dream , but almost a certain prospect .

Duffy has improved as each game passes and now there will be many clubs licking their lips at the prospect of signing him after 2019 . I am sure that our recruitment already realised this themselves , so here's hoping that he can be signed long term before the poachers come knocking at his door .
Dufty is a St George junior. I think he has always dreamed of playing for Saints. He is playing in a winning team and a winning team is a happy team. As long as we make him a reasonable offer I am confident we will keep him. We also have the luxury of resigning him this year, upgrading his contract and giving him a pay rise next year. We could probably forward end his contract and give him some extra cash this year as we are apparently still very much under the cap for this year.

I am very confident that we will keep him.

When Gallen went off, we got a big advantage.

When Fifita went off, the game was in the bag.

When Graham went off, it was a field day.
They went off because they met their match and were physically battered.
I don’t think they would have coped those injuries playing parra or the grubs

Our pack is like a gorilla pack

We won, by 20
I am soooo damn happy!

Dufty, wow.

Guys, we just might have ourselves a team.

Love it while it's this good!

Now I can sleep and wake up happy!
We definitely have a team. At the beginning of the season, I thought we were building nicely towards 2019. 2018 very could well be the year of the Dragon and 2019 too.

Lol nah. They went off because they got injured! Our pack didn’t injure them, no one went out there to force injury. Gallens leg buckled in a tackle, Fifita got caught awkwardly and I didn’t even see Graham and Lewis go down.

Prior to that, Fifita alone was standing up to our pack and causing some big headaches.

I didn’t mean we injured them, but when you are playing against a physical team and it’s hard yakka, and your body is tired, the chances of getting an injury triples vs a team who is not giving it to you in spades

It’s just a physical fact, a tough hard game leads to more injuries

Our completion rate was excellent in the first half tonight, just as it was last week and we are still playing a very attractive brand of footy.

Cronulla weren't doing much in the first half until McInnes got sin binned.

The only weakness I see in defence is Aitken and Nightingale. But Aitken continues to impress in other areas. I was wrapped with the try he scored tonight. I am having trouble remembering him hit a hole like that and score before.
