Round 6 vs Tigers 2016 Game Discussion

Mullen did set up 2 trys.

That kick was a bad call, and he made a handling error.

2 long range kicks went dead, one of those kicks was one roll of the ball off staying in goal.

Mullen did plenty of good things today. He was the most enthusiastic i have seen in recent times.

Agree.I reckon he put too much pressure on himself and being the perfectionist he is he gets self critical and that interferes with his game.

What was working a few games was Hodko doing "the other stuff" (as Mullen put it) and Mullo playing more of a natural game. Since then Mullo has been taking more kicks and trying to make more plays. His general kicking game is better than Hodko but I think we need to go back to how it was a few games ago. Let Mullen selectively inject himself instead of trying to take it all on himself.

I'm of the same opinion...at the ground he was the most positive and vocal leader I have seen in a Knights side for a long time and his defence, particularly in the second half was outstanding.

And wasn't it great to be among 21000 plus fans for a side that was last years spoon and has been faring ordinary so far this year.

And it must come over different on TV but can we get a half decent crack at the 50/50 calls at some point through this season?! There were several calls from Badger today that just defied belief....I am OK if shit calls are consistent but we seem to be significantly over represented Every week!

Mullen had a shocker by his standards but he still put on 2 of our 3 tries.

He was overly enthusiastic I thought and was trying to run all the time - which is great but it probably came at the expense of things like his long kicks which is usually one of his stronger suits.

Dane and Hodko were our two best today. Gagai was carving them up and broke tackles with every run, we just need to get him running into some inside passes and sniffing around the ruck a bit more. It really agrivates me that we don't offload a bit more, Gags running onto an offload from some of our big forwards would make our attack so much more potent, the problem is we just don't seem to ever be looking for second phase play and that's why our attack looks so predictable and woeful at times, when we were on their line we just repeatedly tried to barge over with our forwards but would be good to get some support runners in there and encourage them to offload close to the line.

Hodko was really composed today, he controlled the game nicely and his goal kicking was clutch! He must be the best goal kicker we've had at the club since Joey. He picked the right time to run the ball and that try he set up was nice.

Mullen made some really good runs and his defence was brilliant, he seems to enjoy smashing people and he's not intimidated by bigger blokes running at him. That being said his last play options were really average today, I just want to see a bit more composure and patience, the one grubbing kick he actually put in we scored off but then he shelved it for the rest of the game.

The best part of the game imo was when the Tigers had a set coming off their own line late in the second half and our forwards absolutely bashed them and pushed them back, Brooks ended up kicking from within his own 20 zone which earn't us some great field position. I want to see us bring that attitude every week, that was like the Knights of old.

I can't deny Mullen ' s defensive capabilities. He's a pretty good defender most of the time. No argument there.

But a few are clutching at the 'find and excuse for Mullo' jar again when trying to cover over a lot of the attacking side of his game. He is a veteran now people. Well experienced. He should be rock solid in attacking positions, his kicking, running, passing etc should be excellent most of the time. I just can't buy the he tries too hard line.

Have a look at the 7 game NRL career of Ash Taylor. The kid is almost single handedly winning games for his club. He's just out of nappies.

give the halves time. I'm confident we have the best halves combination at this club since Joey retired. Things are changing for the better. We all knew it before the win today that things are changing

You can call it clutching - I call it realistic. To each their own.

I'm really scratching my head when I read posts placing the blame for us not having backline movements squarely on Mullen's shoulders. Soooooo many factors go into getting them right - combinations/cohesion, the ability of players around you being able to read the play, what is being coached/trained for currently, etc.

I recall 3 instances in this game alone when Mullen had 3 tries set up but in two occasions the backs had overrun the pass and another where Feeney couldn't catch and pass to finish it off. All of those things require timing and combinations - both of which need time to develop - especially when most of the players involved are still rookies (and learning new positions in Feeney's case).

He was poor today with some of his kicks on the last (especially the long ones) but he usually gets them right. He had a shocker no doubt in that regard but he still created more points and opportunity than anyone else in the team.

And so he should. They all have their job to do. Mullo should be racking up try assists. That's a major part of his job.

I loved the fact Brown said we have played better and lost. A great statement that is clearly a motivator and not a criticism. His way of saying we are playing within our ability. He calls it straight. I hope the club does not wait till the final year of his deal to extend it. A genuine club builder. A rare breed.

And he did? So I'm not sure what the issue is.

Racking up try assists. He was directly responsible for a great try off his boot yesterday. Excellent work. The other was due Aku ' s ability to get over the line. No try assist there.

Mullo had a poor day yesterday. Lots of poor choices in attack as usual. The point is he is a VETERAN who is not performing consistently for us verses the $$$ he is paid. The 2 man overlap he chose to ignore because he was playing for an offside penalty was a mistake a rookie would have have made looking for an easy option. He could have put the game to bed there. Kicking on the first into Moses and giving possession away in good field position. Rookie error. These are not the decisions/mistakes a player with 200 plus games should be making. We need him to be infinitely better than that all the time.

Let's see his try assist tally next week against a team that can defend.

Browns post match comments seemed to point that he believes the team is reaching a potential to give themselves a better chance to win, more so then where we were at start of year. Which makes me think they are performing in training and just need to apply it to games.

Players are taking on what he's teaching. Just learning to apply it.

Camera showed he went off his head when Ross went into touch on first play Loved that!

Brisbane game will be a massive test to see if players can respond to Brown and his game plan and not get overalled by a highly skilled team.

Very glad to have Sione back. He'll be up for a huge game!

Missed the match. Will have to catch a replay later on in the week.
Who won out of the battle between Dane and Tedesco?
I thought before the match whoever won out of these two would decide the match.

I believe Mullen might be carrying a small niggling injury again. He blew a four on one overlap on the left that would have put the game to bed. Very unlike him. He is really good at finding the numbers. He threw a peach of a pass to Feeney yesterday. I hope Browny puts Mullo right on Milford and he belts him every time he tries to run it. The Broncs are not a big side at all. They are very very mobile and that is where they get you. Their speed and numbers in the tackle allowing a quick line reset. Their line speed is without peer. We really need to find a way to move them around and disrupt their structure there. Our points will only come from repeat sets and finding holes through their fatigue.

Hey, hey the qaz is in da house!!!!!!!

Do us all a favour. Before I answer your question, you must explain why you claimed that you are related to Dane.

That leads me to my second question. Why are you claiming that you didn't see the game when your close relative is playing????

Tell the truth and then you get to play little fella.

Geez, I hope Mullo isn't already under the pump with niggly injuries.

Apparently Kade Snowden has a few niggling injuries but can't get back on the paddock. That leads me to believe they are in fact major injuries. Surgery etc????
