Round 7 v Brisbane Broncos (Team List)

Im not rejoicing the fact he is injured, just laughing at the fact that i played league and union for almost 20 years and never once saw a player cry on the field...........until last night.

When the physical or mental pain is at its greatest thats when you have to step up and man up even more on a football field and go to a new level of courage.

Pea heart couldnt do that. And, yes, there is wry amusement in that.....lots of it.

It's disturbing to think that such sadistic, depraved attitudes still exist in the community. You need mental help. Did you enjoy seeing Tedesco in tears last year after he ruptured his ACL? How about Kevin Ware's stricken reaction to his horrific leg break? I bet it gave you a hard on.

When Motzlen suffered the injury, aside from the physical pain, he was also confronted with the stark reality that he'll probably never play again. Brent Tate entertained that same possibility when he injured himself in the test match a few years ago and we all remember how distraught he was in the dressing room afterwards. But I don't recall anybody telling Tate to 'man up'. Instead, people sympathised with a guy who had overcome a number of injuries, like Moltzen, and now faced losing his livelihood. Don't underestimate the mental effect of such injuries on NRL players.

I have come back to this thread a few times today because some of the comments have really bugged me.

Starting off with what Shanghai Charlie said at post 31 last night. I added my bit at post 45 and if anything this thread should have been split in 2.

1 to discuss the performance of players last night, end of story.
The other to discuss the growing list of players who will be missing and as we hear today, for the season.

I agree with macnaz comment #50 and this should have been in the 1 breakaway thread
Plenty of positives from the game last night

I agree with bubbles from #51 but not all of it.
Respect our jersey
agree,
and the blokes that have a go and fill it
. As a team for sure, but really, some players are not up to 1st grade standard and some really do deserve to be dropped to reserves, it is hard to respect players who give away dumb penalties and don't appear to put in each week and you must agree with that bubbles?
If you can do a better job get off your lounge, dust off the twisties, log out of your dutch pay per view website, throw out your tissues and have a crack yourself.
That's why we are supporters not everyone lives in Sydney, not everyone is a member, not everyone can get to the game each and every week, not everyone can pretend just because they watch each game, they can play. Gee some guys on here might have been superstars at school, they are allowed to have a comment, it's no different to other things in life, our politicians, Sydney v Melbourne or the management of the mob we work for. We see these players out on the field either at the ground or on the TV and gee, some guys, are they really up to it, I guess they must be better than the guys we have in the NSW Cup team, I don't know. Could I do any better? no, never and have never said I could but I will continue to say that for example, such and such is my favourite player but gee, he does not deserve to be in 1st grade.

A crucial point in the game was at 10-14 and Robbie put the kick up, it came off a bronco and Ayshford regathered 10 out from the line only just to flick it away trying to get Reddy away.

This is the shit that kills us. Hold the ball and leave the magic to Benji.
We woulld have had a fresh set of 6 a few metres out and half the defence not back.

Thought he'd dislocated a hip or busted a jaw the way he was writhing in pain....missed it initially and thought Hodges had done something to him....credit tho to him for showing concern.

Well said. I remember Tate crying, I have seen Benji cry too after he did his shoulder again. The crying is not only from the pain or the injury, it comes from the knowledge of a lost year, the pain of surgery and rehab and frustration of being out.

Maybe that will refresh a memory or two and not make it seem such a happy occasion.

We should also remember a recent suicide due to a player sustaining a career threatening injury.... it is far more than just the initial injury.

Just came by to say good game guys. Thought we(broncos) were in control through the game but the ways the Tigers came at us in the 2nd half had me worried. Had to feel sorry for u guys with the injuries all through the game(i know some dont like moltzen but cant believe some are actually cheering bout his injury) i think with a full squad u prob had us covered last night. Good luck for the rest of the season hope this is the last of ur injuries.

Two of his team mates (Dwyer and Tuiaki) suffered career ending injuries. Blake Lazarus who he played a lot of football with had loads of talent yet his career was ruined by two ACL tears in 2 years. Moltzen knows how bad injuries can be, and I fully understand where the emotion on his part came from. Love him or hate him, taking any joy at his injury says more about your character than it does about Tim.

I've had two acl ops on the same knee, anyone thats experienced the initial pain of the injury can tell you that you dont wish that injury or the rehab on any body, whether you like them or not.
