Round 7 V Roosters

Refereeing was awful, Roosters were up inside the ten the whole game. There seems to be a double standard when the so called Rolls Royce teams are playing and the remainder.
Agree. Although it is more obvious when you are at the game, and I know we can be slow from dummy half, but watching it from home there were times when we were rucking it out from our own line and the Roosters were up almost with the advantage line before the dummy half had even passed the ball. It was almost like watching NFL and their scrimmage line with the quarterback handing it off to a player trying to bulldoze their way through.

Just watched the Roosters press conference

That knob wouldn't give our defence any credit
I agree but geez we were brittle on the edges, times we had numbers and let them slip through tackles or pass was frustrating.
What about the last set, how did Roosters not score there and how did we let them get up the other end!!
Somehow we scrambled but defended our line stoutly
We were off the pace we needed to be yesterday in attack, Hunt's slow passing back inside and our backline movements gave the Roosters plenty of time.
Makes the win more pleasing because Roosters bumbled in attack also.
We were playing nervous and at times dumb in that 2nd half with the ball right from the kick off.
You could feel the come back...you could just feel it

The team dug deep yesterday and came up with a win , but they cant play like that every week ........ The attack , when they are attacking on the oppositions line is all over the place , no one is moving , all standing still in a straight line other teams are deep , have set plays , players moving ..... This needs to be addressed by Hook or it will be the same as last year , Its to physical for the players to maintain that sort of game every week ...... They will end up with too many injuries , have to play a lot smarter in attack ....... They seem to have cut down their mistakes the last couple of weeks and that's helping the team stay in there with a chance ........

You pretty much said what I wanted to Illusion. Tho I saw out biggest defensive lapses up the middle. How many times did the Chooks bust us there after poor marker defense. I am scratching my head over how we won that with such little possession. And when we had it we were all over the shop with our lack of direction and flat backline. What a master stroke by Griffin to replace one poor playmaker with another. When is he going to grasp the fact Amone has the skills to be a three quarter, a winger or in time a fullback. But please remove him from a distribution position. And how long do we put up with a hooker that has no skills other than passing the pill and the occasional tackle. He has the speed and reflexes of a snail. Time Connor Muhlheisen was looked at.

Eating my words a bit today. I thought Bird was brilliant at 6 today and Mbye was safe as houses at 1. Josh McGuire was brilliant for the second week in a row. Well done Dragons and well done Hook.
I am with you on this on all counts however a great win does not make a great season but it can launch one, its where we go from here is all that counts now - but it is great to be winning again, especially on Anzac Day.

Hook plays an uncompronising tough style of footy, just look at the starting pack that went out...it was all about inimidation and running hard up the middle which beared fruits in the first 10 minutes...defence around the ruck w big guys is always going to be risky but we scrambled well..

Totally agree regarding the Roosters being offside ..........on a number of occassions it was down right embarrassing ..they were 2m in front of the ref when he was standing right alongside them......

Yep-credit to Hook where it's due but we're all doing handstands over two wins by one point and two points respectively. In other words, the good stuff we're doing is just very very marginally outdoing the bad stuff. Meanwhile the really good teams like the Storm put 70 points on their opposition.

Trif,
I think i remember seeing where we made a whole 7 metres whilst rucking it out from our line . Admittedly we were buggered but the rorters were hitting us as we got the ball and pushed us back .. And the way they were holding us down just gave them more opportunity to line up and hit us next settler .. with macca having to play the entire 80 it really showed us up also
