Round 8 Vs Sea Eagles

Of all people, Nathan Hindmarsh made 2 pertinent points about the Panthers on Matty Johns -

1. The lack of punch and go forward by the forwards. As such when in possession, the team is passing more opften and trying to go around teams rather than going forward first; and
2. The lack of discipline when, having pinned Manly deep in its own half, would give away a penalty which would enable Manly to get out of proverbial jail.

Lindsay Smith in particular has absolutely no punch in his runs. Liam Henry is not that much better. Even on the edges Sorro offers very little and Martin does too little.

Paps has been decent but decent just means he is average. That's not what we signed him for.

Most disappointing is Leota. Low minutes, limited impact. Silly errors. He is our most experienced forward not name Yeo.

I love how "not named Yeo" is becoming common terminology for Panthers fans.

And the latest renderings don't show much member seating in the Western Stand

Somewhere along the line I remember finding some documents on the redevelopment website that indicated that the new western stand would seat a so many extra thousand above the current stand.

So while it may look all corporate it isn't inconceivable that all the necessary corporates could be accomodated while still retaining space for members. Especially when you take into account the new stand will be a good 20m taller.

As far as Commbank goes. It is actually a very good ground to watch the game at. The thing is it just isn't our home ground and you have to wonder if we had been at Penrith the close games against the Roosters and Cowbyos might have ended up as wins.

I think it’s more the adjudication that is affecting their game play. Just like when the NRL bought in the 6 again that suited Penrith, all these stoppages are hindering it. Not taking away the errors and relieving penalties…they are annoying as f@#$.

Maybe, but good teams adapt. I mean have a look at the Parramatta Eels in the 1980s. After winning the 1981 GF, its fans burned down Cumberland Oval. Thus from 1982 through to the end of the 1985 season, they played its games out of Belmore Oval. Won another 2 GFs during that period (1982 ands 1983 against Manly), lost a third GF (1984 against Canterbury), and made a prelim final (1985).

I honestly think your team's depth being whittled away over the last 5 years, combined with mental fatigue for the continuing players, are probably a greater factors in the loss of form.

I said this last year. Smith a a plodder. A work horse with no real punch in his runs. That's fine when have a powerfull pack but Martin and Leota form is low and Yeo can't do it all. Sorensen also been poor.
Forward pack is ordinary and isn't dominating anymore.

I’d personally like to see Lurun Patea get some minutes from our bench. He has Spencer-ish potential, could add some real punch.
