Well I'm the biggest Burton fan on this site and even I know he can't just slot in and do Nathan's job. He has the best kicking game in the sport

The kicks Nathan would of taken Burton will. Has a handy kick himself. I haven't seen any set moves Nathan does or things like that. So pass the ball to others and kick will be all that is asked of Burton

Franklin, Nathan has been the best hb in the game for a year. Shouldve been dally m winner last year. To suggest he is no loss is crazy. You said luai would be the bigger loss yet you don't want him to contribute any more with Nathan gone.

Luai is an x factor, more he touches it and runs it the better in my book. Teams ball watch when he runs. Burton has a very good kicking game but he is still largely untested in the nrl and to say he can just jump in and fill nathans role against one of the top teams is a tad silly.

Another key thing is either Burton or luai is going to have to defend on the right which is not a normal side for either and may cause a few issues defensively.

You are new here but I don't rate halfbacks they mostly just kick and tackle. Nathan does it well but Burton can effectively do it to atleast 80% in our setup

Short turnarounds we barely do any ball work. So run to what we know for the rest in the side. If we were talking a few week injury to Cleary then by all means get Luai to setup

But with no ball work sessions and given the quality of the opposition it is more affective to just slide Burton in to doing what Cleary did. Leaving Luai and the left to do what they have been doing all year and carrying on from last year

You would be stupid to mess with the left in defence or attack

Cleary is no big loss anyway. Burton does what he can do. Luai is the one we need fit

Been reading here long enough to know there was a time you insisted nathans best position was hooker.

Luai is more than capable of running the show. More so it will so beneficial for the team in the long run that he gains this experience. Comps aren't won in rd3. Like I said if nath goes down in a final we are stuffed. But if romey gains a experience throughout the year playing hb whilst nath is out and possibly during origin it is perfect for the team.

Just cause romey could play hb doesn't mean he's not going to be on the left. Just means he will get into 1st reciever more which with how dangerous he is on the ball is a good thing. Often times the left is most danger is when we are close to their line and we go short side to romey at 1st reciever anyway.

This has nothing to do with Nathan. But I have to say it is stupid to have a grand final re match where one team only has a 5-day turnaround. The Storm will have 7 days from their last game.
This game would have better on a Sunday afternoon. Thursday night games suck.

I think Luai/Burton are our best halves pairing so possibly I did say Cleary at 9.

I haven't looked too in depth at the SOO draw. I do know one of those games before SOO we play WT. which follows a game v Bulldogs. Api should be back then so that is where I would pencil in giving Luai more of an organising role.

We need to get into the season 1st. Get some tries on the board get the attack rolling then can make major changes.

Inside the 20 Luai should run it. I agree there but getting to that spot he should take a back seat. We don't need him feeding scrums and giving short balls to the forwards etc or trying long kicks

What frustrates you mate? No player can dominate in every position. Except for Jacky Boy Wighton. Imagine if he could play Hooker
He runs softly even if he's running at a small half so gets dominated in most tackles easily rather easily and slowly rather than fighting for a quick play the ball. I don't want him to dominate I'd just like him to try as hard as others do.

What do you think will change?
The way Penrith attack is Cleary and to a lesser extent Yeo/Api control the middle. The 5/8 stays on the left edge and the f/b stays on the right. It'd be a big change considering the last time Burton played with Laui we just played we just played right side and left side halves.

Laui played 7 and was the closest thing to a halfback but he was pretty bad. By the end of the second game Burton was playing more like the halfback because Laui's kicking went to shit.

They would run the same in opposed sessions. When Burton steps in he would do the role of the player he comes in for

Basically if Luai was out would Cleary change to Luai's role? No chance so same should happen here

Luai's kicking for distance is horrible that is 1 thing he can improve on
