I couldn’t disagree more. 80% just isn’t good enough. We should be looking to perform the very best we can, if we don’t then there is no guarantee about the result. If the Dragons play at 100% at we play at 80% there will be only one outcome. A loss.

We have a young team

How do they get experience without playing?

Leota's injury wasn't planned but it can be a blessing

The dragons will be pumped for this week. They will going for back to back wins and aiming to take down the premiers to prove to everyone they are no joke.
Throw in a bit of old spice between the coaches as well. They will be ready.

Also, they will be playing for the memory of Johnny Raper, RIP.

This one is for Provan. They have retired the 9 jersey for the game.

The emotion stuff like that brings to teams is pretty short lived once the whistle blows. More often than not (in my memory) teams are a fit flat after 10 minutes in the milestone/in memory of games. Tigers in the Tommy game was a disaster as a recent example. I've noticed it in other games as well. Storm seem to be an exception, they never seem to lose a milestone game.

In any case, if we play at 100% they will have no answers. I think they will match us for 20 to 30 minutes in intensity, then fall away once the reality hits that they can't win.

Good chance it's both I guess, first home game for them since both passed. I just read somewhere that they were resting the 9 Jersey for the game and the hooker was named on Tuesday in 22 I think it is.

Fired up or not. We are a cut above pretty much every team over the Full 80. They might go with us early but they are a year or 2 from competing with the top sides

Fun fact Ivan beat the Storm twice in 2018 and both were Milestone games. One for Bellamy and I think but maybe wrong the other was Smith.

folks who believe this game is a gimmie. Would you like to buy a bridge. No gimmie, it will be hard fought, especially with a passionate home crowd against them.

The role is us this week is to reproduce a similar intenisty from last week.

Agreed over a full season but sides like the Dragons can definitely lift for a game and cause an upset, just look at Newcastle last week. We shouldn’t be going into this one with any level of complacency.

The thing with sides like Dragons. Is they make stupid mistakes and can't go on with it

That game had more to it. Roosters generally start slow

Roosters missed 35 tackles and made 12 errors

If you go and read some of the analysis done on spencer at the Rugby League Eye Test sight, you will be amazed to find that Spencer topped the runs per minute stats (measured for time on the field so not impacted by low minutes) for the entire NRL, in spite of low involvement at the end of the season.

In the 2020 season Spencer was in the top 20 players for runs and tackles per minute. He is a gun. Just a bit green is all.
Spencer averaged 24 minutes across the 2021 regular season. The question marks on him have always been around his ability to play big minutes, not his involvement level.

The 2022 Dragons side on paper is probably their strongest since the Bennett days. They’ve made some handy signings, cleared out some deadwood and have some talented kids coming through. They also seem to start the season well (May Premiers anyone?). With all this in mind I think it would be naive to think we can simply show up and win this one.
