SYDNEY Roosters CEO Brian Canavan has slammed security at Mt Smart Stadium as a "joke" after unruly fans pelted his players with bottles.
In ugly scenes, a mob of fans began throwing plastic bottles and chicken legs onto the field as the Roosters stood behind the posts after a Warriors try.
"A few of the players have mentioned it," he said.
"It wasn't good enough. It is disgraceful behaviour when fans resort to throwing things.
"Especially at players. They are the entertainers. They are the people they come to watch. All Stadiums have to be very strict."
Canavan called for the NRL to seek out the culprits and ban them for life.
"They need to go out and find these people," Canavan said.
"It has happened on several occasions. We have gone after people at the SFS.
"I am sure the NRL will be very diligent with finding these people."
Roosters centre Mitchell Aubusson said a full bottle he thought looked like it was made of glass narrowly missed his head.
"I was just standing their and it just missed," Aubusson said.
"It wasn't much fun and fans shouldn't be doing stuff like that."
Prop David Shillington was also targeted by the senseless attack.
"They did it a couple of times," Shillington said.
"After they scored twice they started pegging bottles and chicken legs onto the field. One flew straight past my head.
Meanwhile, Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello denied reports he was set to leave the NRL for the French rugby union.
"They are just rumours," he said.
