The fact is though that the Olympics is once every 4 years and players need to be thinking about their careers outside of those two weeks...

There's not enough positions in the 7's teams to satisfy the existing union player base.

Kemp is not.. Walker is and he is probably the most dangerous with ball in hand int he tournament. Sevens is very entertaining if you enjoy the free flowing running style of play.. However defence seems to be optional in a lot of cases. It is certainly a lot more entertaining than a lot of Olympic sports out there.

I don't think you would have to switch to union to play in the olympics... you would just have to switch to the sevens program.

Imagine spending two weeks in Brazil in 2016 and possibly winning some sort of medal. Or worst case scenario you cheat on your wife 10 times with russian gymnasts. Probably better than playing Cronulla at shark park on a monday night in front of 9,000 people.

every time i look at that team i cant help but laugh.... no balance at all.

they have no idea of the defensive patterns needed for sevens... the majority of them aren't fit enough to compete at sevens.

None of them know how to ruck... there's no fetchers.... every time they go into contact they would turn the ball over.

Sevens players are specialists.
