I mean if you had to choose one player to abandon his NRL career in the pursuit of riches, Lomax would have been paying $1.01, right?
There's a bloke on his 2025 club team who would tank games to take a better contract

They offered them money to stay away from R360 lol
Talking to R360 is bad but it’s not crashing into 27 car accidents under the influence bad. But it is definitely worse than doing it 26 times ****get shitfaced and crash into a woman and child, 9 match ban
talk to r360, 10 year ban
I can’t agree with this. The NRL is booming right now, we’re in a far stronger position than we’ve ever been and we’re on the precipice of expanding the game in a massive way. We’ve actually reached a point where you can genuinely argue we’re the most popular sport in the country.I'm starting to agree with WB about this.
If the NRL loses Paps, NAS and Haas but the pay off is the collapse of Super Ruger, English Premiership, Top 14 and Union internationals .... I'm on team R360
I know this is the reality of human behaviour but this always blows my mind. Whether Haas stays or goes he’s going to earn 10s of millions in his career. Dude is on track to be mega rich. I’ve never really understood giving up the things you love to chase money when you’re already so rich.If it’s tax free he would be crazy to say no
The difference here is, R360 players will be reliant on existing tax loopholes and laws, the Aus government aren’t involved in R360. Whereas the PNG NRL team is an Aus government initiative, therefore any tax exceptions are presumably agreed as part of this initiative - they won’t be using existing tax law/loopholes, it’ll be a specifically designed agreement.Lol after arguing that PNG players would be paid tax free for the last year, now you come up with this garbage. Have you finally learnt what tax residency is?
NRL clubs all have multiple stars and not only is this a very small group but they aren't even the best stars at their own clubs.I can’t agree with this. It’s impossible to say how this will play out for league and union but it comes at a bad time for us IMO. Also whilst both sports will be losing players at least for union they’re ending up playing union.
Im not going to doom and gloom but I won’t be celebrating R360 that’s for sure.

The Australian govt is passing specific tax laws to ensure png players are also exempt from Aussie taxesThe difference here is, R360 players will be reliant on existing tax loopholes and laws, the Aus government aren’t involved in R360. I think Lomax went from Saints to Parra for less money - not sure how this idea would have changed anythingAt the end of the day Lomax isn't really a great loss but I still think the NRL needs to be more proactive here and introduce a system where the top players salaries aren't capped.
1 or 2 players from each team should not be included in the salary cap. With 20 teams, that's potentially 40 of the best NRL players protected. Broncos could easily afford to keep Haas if they were allowed.

Thankfully, it won’t be me who has to do that. I’m just pointing out the difference between R360 tax exemptions and PNG.Good luck getting those new tax laws (which haven't been through parliament) through a high court challenge.
Papi was probably the firstThe first domino has fallen
youre one neck injury away from retirement in a high collision sport. Take the money when you can get it, never know what tomorrow brings.I can’t agree with this. you think the Aus govt can just waiver the countries tax rules for certain sports individuals? This isn’t corrupt png lolThe difference here is, R360 players will be reliant on existing tax loopholes and laws, the Aus government aren’t involved in R360. Depends, if it’s two for sure, if it’s 20 then it will have an impact. Especially at a time the nrl needs an extra 64 players for two new teamsNRL clubs all have multiple stars and not only is this a very small group but they aren't even the best stars at their own clubs.
This won't impact the NRL at any meaningful way. The early release point more to the clubs welcoming the extra cap space. Paps is past his best and gives the storm a million bucks to keep players through upgrades.
We have far more talent coming through.
