As I said, if they are targetting actual stars of our game, not guys just looking for a quick buck, PVL is not standing in the way if they want to return.

At the moment it's all bluster from PVL to scare player managers off, but if these guys get serious throwing money around with a more concrete plan and actuall Rugby Union players starting to sign. I don't think the NRL could do much but hope it falls in a heap and those guys want to return. If the money is true, it's hard for a lot of players hitting there prime, last years to ignore the opportunity to earn money that will set themselves up for life. It's really player managers who are getting the short straw in this situation.
It’s worked perfectly

Haas and rts looking like rejecting r360

Nobody is denying players the right to go to r360 that’s fine

But the nrl doesn’t need to take them back when they are done

If union is so good don’t come back

Don’t go on rugby league podcasts when you’ve retired talking about the code

Loads of players like Lockyer Johns and Thurston stayed loyal to league despite bigger money in union

When you’re on 1.5 million pa already it’s not like they are struggling for coin

Haas has so much on his plate with his mum. And he probably wanted all the money up front.

As for RTS. He will have no shortage of suitors if he decides to play on, he ain't getting any younger and is at a point in his career where he has earnt heaps, and it's a year by year proposition for him whether he continues. He can afford to wait.

I only showed 3 players who left league and returned. But there are plenty of others throughout history. Geez even some went to NFL like Hayne and Holmes.

Just pointing out that those sports have put nothing in to develop league players.

And not everybody has a skillset that suits Union nor some junior background. Just cause your a good league player doesn't mean you will kill it in Union.

Just saying if someone challenged it in court, and given at this point we have only 2 players who potentially might go, I suspect they would win. But as it's only 2 players, I think both would be backed by any club who wanted to sign them and welcomed back with open arms.

Thus PVL and his bluster about what he would do, which is quite different to what would actually happen if it came to fore.

CEO of the Rugby League Players Association, Clint Newton, has criticised Peter V’landys for going public with a threat to ban players defecting to R360 and says it would never hold up in court.

I think Clint needs to remember he is the Rugby LEAGUE players association boss. If they leave the game, they aren't in his Union anymore.

And... it doesn't matter if a player wastes his money, effort and time fighting this in court, even if the NRL lose, they still don't have to register said player if they don't want to.

This is a deterant designed to protect our game.

Imagine if all supposed Rugby League fans actually love the game like you @Wb1234 . I'm not sure why some on here are so cool with some startup Union comp stealing our players AND on top of that seem to want PVL to just sit there Gallop style and do nothing about it. f**k that

Some of us live in the real world. Different players have different priorities for why they play the game. For some it's an end to a means, and maximising there money is most important, others want different experiences and challenges, and others just love Rugby League and then there others like 90% of NRL players, who would never see an opportunity to play elsewhere cause no one is chasing that level of player that can be found anywhere and one with a background playing that sport whether it's Union or NFL or something else.

So is it going ahead or not?

Clive Palmer's Titanic 2 will probably be finished before R360 gets off the ground.

I see the first season being deferred till after the World Cup next year, or a cut price version before they get enough funds together to go the full slog and be able to grab actual big name Rugby Union players.

Loving the game, but not agreeing with something it's doing (or even just not believing it will work) is entirely possible...

What of Paps and Lomax then? They gonna stay fit doing laps around the park or play for the Brumbies and Waratahs?

Funnily enough, someone leaves and someone joins. So his best interests exist in getting the best deal for players to have as much power as possible. Things like contracts will be the sticking points if they have one for players who want to play elsewhere like it was for SBW.

Only a small percentage of NRL players will ever move to 360….

Jap rugby loves guys like these. Cause they never played Rugby internationals, they don't count against there cap for International players (I think it's 3). So they are considered bonus players. They still get similar money with a shorter season and can explore other opportunities in Europe if so inclined.

If the nrl set the players value at their last contract value or even 80% then it will be effectively banning them without having to go to court. I believe that was done to falou when parramatta wanted to sign him at half of his previous contract with afl and the nrl said it would be on the cap at a different amount

That’s a good point as to how the nrl could still keep them out of the game

Think it was Folau that when he wanted to return the nrl stipulated it had to be the titans

So yeh if they want to come back then go play for the two weakest clubs

PRetty sure they road blocked Folau from returning after his little "all you sodimisers will go to hell" rant

Was Folau good enough at that point in his career? The answer is no. But SBW was, and doors were opened for him even with how he left the game. If Folau was in prime form, I can guarentee even with those outbursts, clubs would have been backing him to return to the game at their clubs, and the NRL may have imposed some conditions or something, but he still would have walked back into the game with open arms, especially if it was a club like Melb, Broncos or Roosters who have the right strings they can pull.

It's probably why I don't get Lomax leaving the game. He is a door closed type of talent if he chose to return. He is good, but not that top shelf talent that gets a few chances. As for Paps, I think his body can't cop NRL anymore so he is looking to see what he can cash in with while he can, he ain't coming back to the NRL no matter what.

These guys have declared that to be a fan, you must support every single thing the leader does. They are no different to a North Korea/MAGA where you must declare fealty to the king. Any criticism of any decision means you must be a fan of a different sport.

On that basis WB1234, let's get as many league players over to R360 so the Dragon's get first crack when they come back. Let's hope Haas, Cleary, Walsh go across for a start, although Cleary will have bide his time in reserves as Flanno junior has the halfback position sewn up.

In all seriousness I don't think you can stipulate what clubs they have to go as that's like a draft and forcing places to go play for a particular club.

Ah no, I hold extreme views towards the game, that's absolutely true. I've never once said others have to share those views. Arguing your point and exchanging ideas is what we are on a forum for right?

Stop jumping into threads just to be negative.
