Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

TBF even here they cant quite decide what to use, there's been periods where they have promoted the game as 'NRL' then periods where they revert back to using Rugby League as the games descriptor. Even now they still say 'play NRL' sometimes when they mean play Rugby League on official stuff.

The change from WARL, NTRL, SARL and VicRL happened in 2013 when the NRl strong armed the independent state bodies into letting the NRL take them over. If they ever took over NSW and Qlnd I'd assume theyd take on the same rebrand.
Don’t forget the TRL (I haven’t).

Any chance marky mark is a regular first grader this year

Looked really good in attack and useless in defence

Going Concern will be first cab off the rank.

Insolvency to follow afterwards.

It's not until late April we'll see how far the financial position deteriorated in 2024.
Maybe but the ‘Ecosystem’ will be in jolly good shape old boy. Pip pip!

You should be fearing this, not celebrating it.

NFL scouts are going to be looking at young league players more and more.
probably more ex-AFL players in the NFL
And the reason he made it in the NFL was because he was too big to play in the NRL. A few of the NRL's best (and some in RU) have tried to make it in more attacking positions (running back/wide receiver) but failed

Too big and fat

Ideal for stop start sport like nfl

Hayne did really well for a player that came In cold at an oldish age to learn a new sport

Burton with his boot would be a huge asset in the nfl

NFL has no reserve grade or really even a second division comp - so if you want to make it you will have to play a few years in college, be specialised (like a kicker), be physically specialised (like Mailata) or pick it up very quickly

Practice squad ?

Burton wouldn’t need much training anyway for what a punt returner does in nfl

They have an international pathway

Didn’t some famous welsh union back get picked up by an nfl side ?

We say Polynesian players are built for the NRL.

They're built for the NFL as well. And the NFL pays more.
