What I meant is , just use it, like Rugby 360 is, they didn't ask permission. RL media not referring to Union as Rugby would be a good place to start.

"State of Origin Rugby"
"That's fantastic Rugby by Katoa"
"Cleary is one of the best Rugby players in the world"

We don't always have to throw 'League' on the end. Just like R360 commentators won't be throwing 360 on the end, as we know their version isn't looking like it will be strictly RU traditional rules.
I am from Leeds and "rugby" means RL and nothing else

How’s this for a pretentious piece of journalism :

Thats how union journos write, have you every tried reading an article by Peter Fitzsimmons ?

Its interesting that all the touring british media are shocked at how small Union is in this country. The ego of Union fans, who falsely believe thiers is a truly global game, must take a bruising when they see 2 far inferior sports light years ahead of them.

They mistake the patriotism shown by people supporting their country in global competition with people actually enjoying the spectacle.
People don't follow the 200 mtr.. they watch thier country participate in the 200 mtr.

Peter Jorgensen needs to spread his wings and come to Rugby League. He’ll get to experience the construction site of Shark Park or Points Bet stadium or whatever it’s called these days. And he will be taken aback by those mesmerising finger movements by Sharks’ supporters before a shot at goal. And would be the beneficiary of Nicho’s ball playing ability.

I watched the Eng v Tonga series and the english commentators refered to it as Rugby.

In france league is known as Rugby 13

It might just be an aussie thing to refer to the codes as league or union.
Yep, Spanish speaking countries call it Rugby 13s too.

I don't mind the League and Union thing in Australia, what I don't like is referring to them as League and Rugby which is all too common from RL media people in Australia and it shits me. We are the one country with our foot on the throat of Union and we should rub it in.

Rugbys 'Golden decade' has started with a whimper.

Lions V Wallabies rated 772 k, only slightly higher than an NRL or AFL game.

The game had a 1.7m reach, meaning 1 million people tuned in for a short time and then turned the game off.

Turned it on at halftime of the Manly/Storm match. British Lions right winger “caught” a kick and then kicked it out on the full from outside his 20. Replays showed he knocked it on. The ball was jammed into the ground , the bottom of the ball touching the ground with his hands only touching the top of the ball. So 2 mistakes in a row , the first being ignored by the referee for the sake of the “spectacle”. Camera cut to the gold contingent in the crowd going berserk like they’d just won lotto. Turned it back after that. Would prefer to watch the sweet Caroline ad on loop. Well not really.

That same winger attempted a chip and chase that went into the 3rd row and attempted an offload that went straight to a Wallaby, finished the game with 5 touches with 3 of them being turnovers.

The best winger in the United Kingdom wouldnt make NSW Cup.

Said it before, years ago even though i don't like RU, i could still recognize and even name a few of the Wallabies, i couldn't name one or recognize one of them if they walked pat me in the street. Rather than be fearful, this Lions tour is just one huge advertisement for the NRL, Fans will see a better and bigger game than they see back home, sadly Super league bar the tops match ups is not to the standard of the NRL, and the NRL games i see are just brilliant right now.

I agree, I never call Union ‘Rugby’, only ever Union or Rugby Union. They don’t own that name and we shouldn’t allow them to, especially here where League is the dominant game.

A mate of mine and I call it "kick and clap" as whenever a player puts in a kick, the crowd applauds like its the best thing since sliced bread, even if it's just an old fashioned up and under.

Actually I forgot to mention the ensuing line out which the Wallabies lost on their own throw. That made 3 errors in a row. Rugby Joe would have been taken aback by the number of basic mistakes made just in those few minutes. But he’ll get to spread his wings and smell the cherry blossoms in Japan in full bloom.
