Doesn't DAZN have links to the Middle east. Call me a conspiracy theorist but perhaps there's a little collaboration going on here.

The Saudi's only invested recently. The whole thing was started by a Russian oligarch who got out before he could be pushed out of a window. Went to britian and formed DAZN and owns much of Warner Group (Music).

It's not great company. That dirty money is everywhere these days.

Honestly this is the time for PVL to get involved and have a chat with those guys about getting it all about Rugby League. It's a better sell for some of the cities they want to go after.

Funny union journos trying to kill this whilst league ones are talking it up

I doubt whatever the irb say matters

If the wages are true players won’t care about being stood down from internationals

It tends to attract those towards the end of there careers looking for one last big payday. Or those stuck behind other good players and can't make that leap into the national team anyway. Or in the case of NZ and Australia, any player who isn't getting a top up from the national team funds and is stuck on crappy wages.

Most of the NRL players who have been associated with R360 also tend to fit that profile, or couldn't get that sort of money anywhere else. I would like to see Haas playing as a 12/13 in Union and just carrying so many to the line. But at the same time I like his contributions in league, and R360 with it's multiple timezones is going to struggle to find any audience that wants to watch there team playing at any random hour. Feels like it's going back to Super Rugby when South Africa played in the comp and no one really tuned into watching there home matches at 2am in the morning even if they were playing Australian teams.

You're right.
Looks like they're not going to get the cream of the crop in Union because they'll want to represent their country and you're not going to get the best league players because those mentioned are only a fraction of the talent NRL have.

So, the comp that's ambition is to showcase the best talent will certainly fall short of that marker and given these sides are just thrown together at random in random locations around the world..
Geez, gotta wonder why on earth anymore would watch..

Its a gift to the NRL. They might take a few players but the damage it will do to our closet competitors.. deviation.
The collapse of the Rebels and the resulting uptick for the Storm is about to go into overdrive.
All the Warratahs support... going to Souths and Roosters..Reds to Dolphins...you get the picture.

I really hope this comes about.

It's exactly how it's plays out:
When there's an actual threat " everyone remain calm" when there's not .. " huge winds set to smash into the coast"
The Union reaction vs the NRL reaction speaks volumes.

Why 2 million usd tax free a year there won’t be a union player who will say no it’s crazy money

R360 has said they will release players for tests, the irb will baulk they can’t afford the damage to their internationals it’s what keeps their stupid game alive

Well technicially any new competion can be called a league. Which doesn't make it Rugby League. It's something that has always irked me. I still think we should have as a sport gone with the french name Jeu à Treize (which means game of 13 which French had to use from 1991). I know the sport is a variation of Rugby, but one that I feel we can seperate our sport from well enough. That said, I'm not sure the Poms would go for a name change to anything French.
Rugby XIII's is the correct name for our sport. We have every right to use the Rugby name and XIII's is the correct descriptor

They're not going to go back on their word.
Some might go for the money, some might value their nations jumper more.
Meaning neither R360 or RU internationals are fully stocked and...both very lame.

This supposed competition is 11 months away. So far not one officially named contracted player, no coaches or backroom staff, no medical staff, no teams, no colours, no venues, no referees, no tickets, no website, no social media, no official R360 tv interviews. It seems odd that 200 players are supposedly signed for a rugby union competition from multiple countries yet no union media is reporting who any of them are. Have you seen union squads? They need 40 per team like 3 players for every position.

Also, the maximum wage being offered is $1m US as reported (£740k or A$1.5m). The only people reporting this crazy A$3-5m salary stuff seems to be clickbait Sydney journalists chatting with agents trying to bump up NRL deals.

Women’s grand final beat the bledisloe

And it was the highest ratings union game in six year
No, he means globally...

All our viewers may live on the east coast of Australia and NZ (albeit I'm sure PNG and a sprinkling of the UK boosts it) but it still has greater interest than the Bledisloe Cup

From the article by Bullflog Ritchie

“This is real and credible - it’s Super League 2.0. History is repeating itself” one well placed source close to R360…

Bullflog goes on to admit Walsh is signed at the Broncos until 2029 … but says R360 could offer to “ pay out their deals ( lol) or the players could could agitate for a release “…

“R360 will start with the biggest names and get them locked away - that’s what Super League did. “

R360 insiders are aware that luring multiple stars away from rugby league could weaken the NRL’s next Broadcast Deal

Apparently though all the Wallabies players will stay loyal to the ARU … they are prepared to sacrifice millions all for the honour of playing for the green and canary yellow jersey ..

When "journos" use words like "insiders" or "sources", you then start to question the credibility of the article.

Yeah maybe ..we don’t have much more to go on though ….Guys like big Nelson and Paps seem to think something is happening …. NAS has walked away from $850k a year deal at the Storm …. You would be thinking they must have given him some guaranteed money or something …

100k transfer fee paid and 500k in cap space

500k for a handful of nrl games after he was seriously injured

Nrl clubs will be seriously rethinking risk reward of signing these guys now

Yep, but this was before the national unions of eight countries released a statement where players will be ineligible for international selection, should they join r360. It may not worry NRL players, but it may negatively impact on signing big name union players.

They’ve already got agreements with loads of union players

The English test team will get decimated

Liv golf banned players from the pga tour and still they lost stars

we’ll have to see how the Union players value their national duties … a lot of players will still walk if the money is stupid enough IMO….,

And then if they lose enough big name players … the national unions will backflip and let them play again eventually

Just doesn’t seem worth it. Unlike union in Australia we have plenty of talent and good union pathways. Wasting big money on unproven players just seems more risk than it’s worth.
