rugby league 2 video from E3

Well let's look at the positives. The dummy half followed the play. Nice. There was a backline movement, of sorts. There was a 5/8, and outside him a centre and a winger. Also nice. There was a pass back to a kicker.

I do want a game with killer graphics, I really do, but gameplay is going to be more important for lasting enjoyment. From this small snippet it seems to me that things are looking up from the last version.

Give it a chance.

Maybe so, but it was still a good game IMO, not great but good. Also graphics don't make games and on another point Nintendo GCN has better graphics then PS2 so go figure.

Gameplay is all a matter of opinion, I thought it emulated the game well (again not great as the defence needed working on) and what can you expect in a sports game?

The improvements thus far have fixed up a lot of the game (positions) and that's all that needed fixing (that and a better Comp. Mode).

Now for my opinion on the trailer. I have to say that I am extremely excited by what I saw, the graphics looked impressive, the cut scenes are awesome, and the sound effects are very realistic. In other words Rugby League 2 is going to be sh!tloads better than Rugby League 1. Sidhe have done a fantastic job and I can't wait for the game to come out.

The only thing i'm amazed at is the game actually being at E3 in the first place.

I thought E3 was used for showing good upcoming games.

Actually I was a bit surprised at that one too :lol: ... Franchise mode will be interesting, I'm betting it's similar to FIFA 99's season mode.

Anyhow, overall I liked the first game. Ok, the gameplay wasn't the best and the player models were attrocious...but its saving grace was that it was a Rugby League game. tbh, anything better than ARL96 I would have bought and played religiously..

I think with this being there 2nd attempt at a game, I am definitely looking for a significant improvement (although I will buy it regardless).

Lol they probably stole the signs for Killzone 2 and put them up over the RL2 screen just to trick people into watching it.

Had a trailer at the origin last night, animation has improved and Joel Clinton scoring a try was funny stuff.

Graphics have improved, but game play looks very much like the first game..

Trust me, it will be, it will be a heck of a lot better than Rugby League, even though the gameplay is somewhat similar, with the new gameplay features, jumping, diving for the ball, kicking the loose ball, pass to playmaker, ball strips, bug fixes, franchise mode, online, freakin awesome graphics etc, etc, how can you possibly turn the game down even if the gameplay is exactly like the first game?, I know I can't, CAN YOU?

If that is the case mine will be back in the store and my money refunded straight away, I left it too long to return the first one because I was hoping for a patch that actually fixed the gameplay bugs, I won't make that mistake again.

so far the graphics in the screenshots look great eg. Faumuina, Clinton, Byrne..you can tell what player they are, something you couldnt do in the first game cause every second person looked the same.

i just hope the ESL players look as realistic as the NRL ones

It won't look that good once it's actually released... the same thing happens with all other sports games, they release previews that make the game look spectacular but when you buy it and take it home you notice the graphics aren't really that big of an improvement over the last one.

I saw an ad for it at Origin on Wednesday

On appearences it doesn't look too different at all. Only difference I saw was the ball put-down

To be honest a full rehash isn't needed - the game was good enough and would have been brilliant if not for some major errors and bugs.Added to these being fixed the new features and it should be great.

Good news abuout the put-downs being better,it was a bit boring and repetative scoring on the first game.

Thats true EH,

The game was alright minus a few errors, if the score from the scrum thing has been fixed and some better defense then it should be ok at the least.
