rugby league at the olympics

There are currently 68 countries registered with the IRLF and playing rugby league.

They'd easily be able to get the 75 needed by 2032.
We'll just get NSW, QLD and WA to secede and form their own countries. That brings the total to 70 if the rest of Australia isn't included. America will be 50 different states by then so Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Illinois, Texas and California. QLD Maroons vs NSW Blues in the Gold medal match and NZ Kiwis vs Great Britain Lions for Bronze.

Btw, Tighthead, wasn't rugby union in (I think) 1908 Australia's first ever gold medal, won against the poms to sweeten it :)

Rugby in the Olympics

1900:

  1. France
  2. Germany
  3. Great Britain
Scores: France 27-17 Germany, France 27-8 Great Britain

1908: There was only one match, Australia / New Zealand defeated Great Britain 32-3

1920: There was only one match, United States beat France 8-0

1924:

  1. United States
  2. France
  3. Romania

Hosts can introduce sports - Japan had 6 so not sure if that is the number (baseball, softball, karate, skateboard, sports climbing and surfing) in Paris 2024 Break dancing will be a new "sport" and Sport Climbing/Skateboarding/Surfing will remain Olympic Sports with Baseball and Soft Ball not included(most likely will come back in LA 2028) - The Surfing will be held in Tahiti in 2024.

So one would say the following sports would be under consideration for Brisbane 2032 - Baseball/Softball/AFL/Rugby League (9's) / Netball/Cricket (T20 or T10) /Squash/Lawn Bowls -not sure of others

Bring back Tug of War as an Olympic Sport - As Chess and it's governing body(FIDE) have been recognised by the IOC as a Sport although not in the terms of athleticism it could well one day be included in the Olympics too
