I'll never forget the day I saw Matty Bowen run down Brett Stewart. BS had a 10mt start on him too.

Slater and Bowen would not fair well at all in a 100m sprint such as this. They are both lightning off the mark but their tiny height would see them chased down like they were standing still by the taller lads.

Stewart is definitely fast, although when he has had to sustain it over a long distance he tends to taper off. He couldn't catch Amos Roberts at the SFS this year with a pretty even start, so he can't be that quick.

I'd put my money on Inglis over 100m personally.

I'd say the quickest in the NRL would be Shannon Walker then guys like Aku and Slater
Luke Burt for Parra used to be very close to the quickest he was lightning probably slowed down after his leg injury last year

Even slight angles and even starting one or two strides before the other means a massive difference in these x ran down y situations.

The best was many moons ago, Raiders V Dragons... Mark Gasnier made a break from the scrum about 60 out from the line and had no one in front of him and the raiders front rower, Sean Rutgertson (sp?) broke from the scrum, minus about 10 metres and ran him down short of the line...

Over 40m...
Campbell, Bowen, Soward, Barba, Slater... Way too many to mention..

Over 100m...
Crockett, Uate, Inglis, Stewart etc etc

You could throw a blanket over about 20 players in each category. Either way the list of players involved in the fastest man competition are hardly the fastest bunch of players in the game.

Going back a bit further. Matty Seers chasing down Brett Mullins (in his prime) still stands out.

While mentioning Matt Seers, Darren Albert's tackle on him in the Preliminary final of 97 was the greatest cover tackle of all time he showed plenty of speed to catch him.

I was only 6 and I still remember that, hadn't he just been subbed on? Love it.
