Because it sucks. People who want the ref to "put away the whistle" are moronsPenalties too
Wonder why all games can’t be reffed like this

Wouldn't less penalties be due to the top teams being more disciplind ?Penalties too

Yep just like originWouldn't less penalties be due to the top teams being more disciplind ?
Are you saying the the refs are allowing teams to get away with ruck infringements and offsides because it's the finals ?
Origin is the perfect example of high quality players who don't give away penalties...that's why there's no penalties in origin.Yep just like origin
Every team infringes
Some teams get called on it some mostly don’t
The way the game is reffed is awful they need to sack annesley he’s useless and get someone who has a better feel for the game

If the refs put away the Whistle we'll go back to hit up, wrestle, kick. Back to 15k crowds and sub par viewership.
I don't understand the idea that games with more penalties = a bad game ? The reason there were alot of penalties in a game is because the teams are crap and undisciplined, it would have been a crap game regardless of how many penalties were given.
Roosters got hammered last night with penalties, just as they have all season. So Penrith and storm players don’t give way penalties like say the tigers due to how good they are ?
lol
There have been some awful sides in origins lately that don’t get penalised
Worse is when refs nitpick one side only and not the other in one game
Then have to do get square penalties to even it up
It ruins games
Union is a sport which focuses on penalties or infringements now league has followed for the same result

It's always the refs fault, not the playersExcept for last week, when they couldn't do any wrong until the result was certain.
Maybe the players just decided to be better for 1 week.
They flew down to Melbourne only to watch their team get their arses handed to them. Gotta expect some cope, don’t you? It's always the refs fault, not the players
Even last night Roosters fans were blaming thier loss on Atkins for missing a knock on leading to a try, it wasn't the fault of the players who missed tackles or dropped the ball...it was all the refs fault
The NFL new rules are an abortion. Truly pathetic stuffI reckon we'll be seeing some big changes ahead of next year regarding foul play resulting in concussions, number of interchange players, and probably the kick off too.
Most likely is the introduction of the "No Return Sin Bin" which is for foul play that results in a Category 1 concussion. The offending player spends 10mins in the sin bin and cannot return to the game. At the conclusion of the 10min sin bin period, another player can take their place.
Could also see the introduction of the "4-6-8" interchange system. 6 players are allowed on the bench per game, although only 4 game be used in each game, for a maximum of 8 interchanges. Keep the current free interchange rules regarding foul play, and allow players 18/19 to play if a player is concussed due to foul play.
For the kickoff, they'll probably try to discourage long kicks (and long kick returns). So maybe if the ball is caught on the full in the in-goal from a kick-off it's straight out to the 20 for a tap, and 7 tackles.
I'd also like to see the non-kicking team allowed to play at the ball before it has travelled 10m (as long as they're at least 10m away when the kick is taken). Especially for drop-outs, just to re-balance the risk/reward element of the short kick. But that's purely a personal bug bear of mine, not a response to the kick off concussion issues.
With the NFL adopting new kick off rules this season to minimise similar issues, I reckon the NRL will be watching very closely to see what impact (if any) it has.

Are you saying refs in the Finals are ignoring offences? Are you seeing players committing infringements and not being penalised ???
The games I've seen have had less penalties because players aren't giving them away, nothing to do with the refs swallowing the Whistle.
I agree some games are over officiated but if refs stop giving penalties teams will push the limits and we'll go back to the wrestle, you remember how mind numbling boring those days were ?
Because that would make the refs have to add up - we've had 4 tackles so there are . . . what's six minus four . . . umm 2 tackles left . . . umm . . add 3 is . . . umm . . . 5? left. So six minus five is . . . ummm . . . first tackle?And for what it's worth, rather than 6 again why not just make it 3 more tackles for an infringement?
With Roosters being the anomaly thereIf it better teams don't get penalised as much
Then a simple graph of team ladder position v penalty count infringed will verify it
Rather what I expect we will see is better teams push the penalty envelope knowing referees won't blow more that 5 or 6 on average game against a single team, for fear of being sacked
Yes, 100%. The Roosters particularly were laying all over the ruck through all their matches.Wouldn't less penalties be due to the top teams being more disciplind ?
