Agree that he shouldn't have disclosed a private conversation, but hes not a journalist so he shouldn't be expected to adhere to the same code of ethics. Hes probably shot himself in the foot, no player will talk to him now.

No, but he's in the media - same thing. Exactly the same code of ethics.

How many commentators/ex-players in the media have sat on stories that would've blown the news world apart? Hundreds, if not thousands.

If someone says something to you without a live microphone or on air, you don't repeat it just because your mate is copping it. Or at least you say a senior player said it. No one will talk to Gorden anymore and deservedly so. It may have been an off-the-cuff comment after a bad loss, which possibly doesn't reflect his overall state of mind.

Gordo was backed into a corner and his integrity was being questioned, I'm sure many would do the same.

It's not the same, his role as commentator is not the same as the role of a journalist and he is not trained as a journalist, he is a hired mouth. He obviously isn't seen the same as a journalist by players otherwise Farah wouldn't have said it to him without asking for assurances that it was off the record. It was expected to not be repeated publicly because it was a private conversation but Tallis is not obliged not to repeat it publicly by a professional code of ethics, only a personal code of ethics, which varies between individuals.

His code of ethics is exactly the same. Former players might not think they're in the media, and some of them like to disassociate with being so, but they are.

It doesn't matter one iota what he's trained as, nor do the majority of journalists have proper 'training' as such anyway.

He knows (or he should know) if anyone says something to him in a private conversion, that is clearly marked as a non-professional one (even if not stated this is off the record) then it doesn't get reported - no matter who's arse he's trying to cover, save or whatever.

Farah is a cat, I'm not defending him. But how was Gorden's integrity being questioned? He just shot out with it on the subject without any need to defend himself did he not? From what I gathered, he did it to defend Mick Potter.

And Farah's wasn't,15 months ago Farah told Gordy"Potter is struggling",that is not Potter can't coach,so on your logic Farah had no choice because Gordy twisted his words for more affect.

I have never seen Farah crack a smile. He is intensely competitive, however, if left unchecked, it will be his downfall.

Gordo was the one that threw the first punch.

You can't go around swinging, get punched back and state "Well I was just defending myself".

How was he backed into a Corner though?

Did he insinuate that Robbie Didnt Like Potter?

Farrah's manager would have known what Farrah said, he would have asked before going in calling Tallis to name his source. So either Farrah lied to his manager, his manager was stupid enough not to check first or it was deliberate. I know in the same situation I would drop Farrah in the shit as well if his manager was attacking my integrity and reputation on the radio.

Tallis didn't name names, he said what every other reporter was saying, it's not like it wasn't common knowledge what was going on at the Tigers, yet they chose to single out the one guy that actually knew what was happening and could put a name to the trouble, not very smart. I guess if it all ends with Farrah getting a release and then a bigger contract somewhere else then maybe it was smart.

How many number 9s do the Tigers have?

Lets not bullshit each other.

Tallis pretty publicly identified Farrah as the one who said it.

He can't then make out he is hard done by when they Robbie comes out and says "Piss off"

Either way Farrah isn't the smartest vegemite to go mouthing off about his coach to people, that will always come back to bite you in the arse.

I think it's fair to say both are at fault here, neither one has played any of this very smart.

For sure, I dislike both, but some were making out Tallis was some sort of people's champion being unfairly treated by big bully Robbie.

Only one thing is certain, no player will talk to Tallis again.

Both are just as bigger f**kwits as each other.

Gordy acts as if he is some sort of doyen of all things good and wholesome, when he was asked on live TV from a viewer phone in on Fox post monday night footy a few years back as to why he was the one board member that stopped Wayne Bennett from coming to NQ, he was caught well off guard and his response of 'ummmm ahhhh, ummmmm' pretty much gave away that he was in fact the one that let personal grudges get in the way of Bennett coming north. Gordy needs to stop running his mouth off and it seems Farrah should follow suit.
