So assume that means we are aiming for Norman to play 1 next year.

Not sure he is good enough a fullback.

However his running game at 6 has improved a fair bit this year I guess.

more like

1. Norman
2. Radradra
3. Taka
4. Hopoate
5. Folau
6. Foran
7. Townsend

Sharks could swoop on Townsend depending on what happens with Robson and Manly are chasing. Should head back to Sydney nonetheless.

Well you've got to manage your cap at the same time. I heard some merkin say the other day that Ricky is offering overs to everyone and it's forcing up the player market.

about half that for mine

And for those who have Norman at 1, remember that's why he left the Bronx

He was reported to be on $550k, so what is fair now?

Let's call it 500K. That's 2 million dollars he has been paid by the club for basically 2 years footy, and that's assuming he doesn't go AWOL for the rest of this season. I'd say offer him 2 more years at 300K which means he ends up with 2.6 million dollars over a 6 year period (though only 4 years work and again that's assuming he keeps putting in for the duration) which averages out to 433K a year across that 6 years. A deal which I still think Parra would consider they got the raw end of and rightfully so.

Having said all that, if we offer him 300K per year for 2 more years, his manager will be on the phone to Manly, Sharks and whoever else he can think of looking for something better, and he'd no doubt get it. I'm sure he could get 500K elsewhere without much problem. The Knights are another candidate, they need to move the likes of Tyrone Roberts and Gidley on, Mullen too, so they'd have heaps up their sleeve to spend.

I wouldn't be surprised if Parra are making an offer they know he'll refuse so the decision to keep Norman in the halves is made for them.

Agreed. That may very well be the motive.

I wonder with rumours we are after Tupou, that Arthur has some mad plan to use the skills of our wingers / Sandow / Norman to fill the fullback role in a non-traditional way. Eg our wingers semi and potentially Tupou would be better bringing the ball back, and Sandow would be better attacking in the traditional fullback role.

Who knows time will tell

Which would be win-win for the club really. We'd hold on to him at a much reduced salary and maybe look at using him differently, from the bench maybe. Doesn't seem as wasteful having a 300K player on your bench instead of a 500K+ player who was supposed to be your number 7.

Or, he spits the dummy and walks in search of more money, which as I said he will have no issue getting, and we concentrate on making Foran and Norman our long term halves pairing.

Win Win like I said! :)

I was reminded this morning that the Roosters have signed some ESL winger also called Burgess. So I'd say that he rumours that Tupou being squeezed out are true.

Provided we don't spend too much on him as most clubs make do with cheapies eg Souths, Storm, Manly

So you've got Tupou playing fullback in defence, and right half in attack??

Have no idea how it could work but wasn't really thinking like that. More Norman would play his normal role, so no change for him. Sandow would play fullback but we use our wingers to help him out a bit at the back

I think Sandow is better suited to attacking as a traditional fullback rather then Norman. And putting Sandow at the back makes it harder to target him in our front line defence. But he would be terrible probably under bombs and rucking it out. But we would have two bloody good wingers under the high ball and rucking it out. So some how get a structure where they help him out.

Despite some of the comments that we are always paying overs, perhaps this demonstrates that the current admin offer players what they are worth to the club and we seem to be becoming an attractive propositionmore a to players, that is really what is happening

That may upset the conspiracy theorists, but t happen to,think that is what is going on
