Hard to see that Tanginoa will be 2nd tier. We upgraded him, and I think 2016 is part of that contract. But then again, he might not be coming at all.

Yeh, one would assume that there must be a plan to play Edwards or someone at centre (or at least to try it out). Moeroa played centre in Union but his lateral movement doesn't seem to be good enough.

He played inside centre in union which is essentially second row in league.

Even if the result of the contest means nothing in ladder positions to the Cowboys?

You're suggesting that they might lose to a bottom 4 team cos their hearts are not in it or even tank a game in front of their home crowd in THE year when their time is ripe for a premiership coming off a loss to Storm ? Nah

If they can't improve their ladder position I reckon there is a good chance they will rest Thurston. Bellamy has rested his big three in the last round of the season when the last game meant nothing. So it has happened.

What if they think playing Thurston in a dead rubber match is a risk too big to take on the eve of the finals?

Well......sometimes. Yes, they are often a crash ball runner, but they do have have hands too (that's why the Kiwis call the position '2nd five-eighth').

League second rowers with a passing game are also invaluable. People go on about needing centres who can 'set up the winger' as if that's the be-all and end-all of attacking play for a centre. But an edge forward has even more passing options on his outside. Surely the need for a passing game increases for positions closer to the middle of the field.

Anyway, the biggest difference between a rugby league centre and a rugby union inside centre is in defence.

Konrad Hurrell is a player that I'm pretty sure everyone here would want to play for the Eels, yet his try assist stats are shocking. His big plays are that he regularly makes 100+m per game and offers quick play the balls.

Just saying that wrecking ball centres are just as effective in their own way as a fleet footed Gagai or Simona.

But that is the big limitation in his game as a centre.

One of the reasons he floats in and out of first grade despite being so apparently dominant.

A Justin hodges or Jamie Lyon are far more valuable.

Mid you at least he offers one attacking skill, meaning he has pou's favourite Ryan merkin covered.

Can't wait for him to start the year at centre for us again next year.

Yeah morgan has cost us so many games this year.
Why can't we have star players in every position? Oh thats right salary cap - Morons....

Who was the last coach who had him pegged as a starter? It is only the brain dead variety (read SK + Ricky) who have started the year with him as a centre. Arthur has (rightly) seen that he isn't a starter, and so has started each of the past 2 seasons with someone else at the centre position.
I will predict that Arthur wants to start 2016 in the same fashion, with 2 other blokes as the starting centres.

It will be a shame if we lose one of them after 1 game again, but surely we are due a season relatively injury free?

The f**k up with Hopoate and the extra money being paid to Foran as well as the extra payable to him on the cap looks certain to result in moths again being a prominent feature of first grade week in week out.

He shouldn't be, but he will be.

Actually Morgan has played reserve grade under all three of his NRL coaches, so has been considered a backup by all of them. He only played in round one of 2011-2013 due to pre-season injuries to Reddy (2011) and Tonga (2012 and 2013).

However at 25 he is close to his peak as a rugby league player and is lately proving to be not out of place in a top 17. He won't lose us any games next year, if he does turn out to be one of our first choice centres. He is surely cheap as well, allowing us to put better attacking wingers, halves and edge forwards around him.

The way Moeroa played was exactly the way that an edge forward in League would play though. He wasn't like a Beale attacking inside centre. I was mainly talking about defence though. Tep could attack anywhere on the field and is already pretty good despite not knowing 100% on how to play in first grade but for the time being he needs to learn to defend in first grade.
