Yeh, one might do well to consider the incentives of a journalist and editor working for a group of companies that (at the time) were in negotiations with the NRL for a new broadcast deal. But whatever, the clubs will always have a sook from time to time.....whether they have a genuine gripe or are simply acting in their own interest to try get a bigger slice of the pie.

I agree with you that News Ltd manipulated the truth at a time that Murdoch got side stepped by Ch9.

However the facts remain that the clubs are certainly disgruntled. Meetings have been held ....

The chairmen of all 16 clubs will discuss the recent developments during a phone hook-up on Monday that had been organised before Smith's shock announcement of the deal with Nine, which provides four live games a week on free-to-air television from 2018.

.. and it is more than getting a bigger slice of the pie. They feel that they already own the pie in the first place.

If you were a foundation club (1908) or even blow-ins like us (1947) you would understandably be pissed at the way they the NRL Commission treats you IMHO. It seems that the NRL suits prance around like they are doing the clubs a favour for allowing them a franchise and should be getting pats on the back for the $1B TV deal.

But what comes first the chicken or the egg ? The NRL would not exist without the "product". Instead the NRL treats clubs like their franchise is not guaranteed unless they toe the line.

Admittedly the competition needs rules and a governing body to ensure that there is an equal playing field, money is evenly distributed and the cap is adhered to. However you get the distinct impression that the clubs that built the NRL from ground up are not treated with the respect they deserve.

Snap Poll: Do the clubs receive the respect that they deserve ? Should the clubs have to treat the NRL Commission with kid gloves ? Or should the NRL Commission's role be that of a management role, answering to the clubs ?

Seriously??? Luke Kelly isn't that good.

UPDATE: Morgs won't get his certificate. Bigfella signs off on all certificates, he gave Morgs the pen to sign his name, then asked for the pen back, but Morgs just held onto it.

Then Morgs just flops it out and BigFella was now LittleFella.
